Lost 550 and 551 Macro Blocked

Over the past few weeks I noticed recordings for USA HD were missing (5 or 6 seconds recorded) and channel says not available. Now 551 is macro blocking so bad that you cannot view it. Called support and after the 15 minutes of IVR trying to fix the problem a technician came on. He went through some things and then asked for diagnostics (Power off and press OK twice) which never worked for me. Then he asked to take off and reconnect the coax. Nothing. Then go back to the splitter and remove and reconnected and channels are okay now? What gets me is the specific channels lost and I thought I would document my experience so others can fix their problems without technicians. Appears over time the cable connects can go bad. Other reference point was that the 7216 upstairs was okay on both channels when the 7232 could not get the channels.

All has to do with what frequencies the channels are coming through on. The cable could have been crimped in such a way that caused the frequency for USA HD and TNT HD to not work. I used to get that in my bedroom w/ESPNU HD, cable would shift just enough that it would stop working.

I'm having a similar problem upstairs with Spike HD, Universal HD, VH1 HD, and as of last night, Palladia HD.

I was going to have someone run a new coax from garage to attic for me, but I think I'll take your advice and try reconnecting at the splitter in the attic first.
