Re: i7-2600K with one core running 10C cooler

said by WhyMe420:

Not bad... 4GHz, but ouch, 1156 processor. My 2600K is clocked at 4.3GHz . 32nm, cool, and the socket is Ivy Bridge compatible. Let's just hope Ivy Bridge can do 4.6 or better easily...

As for TIM, I highly doubt that TIM is the reason for OP's temperature readings. I have changed TIM on plenty of CPUs with this same "issue" and it never changed anything for them.

My recommendation is to just not worry about it, as idle temperatures don't mean anything. It's load temp that actually matters, and they will be plenty accurate enough as temps rise.

"but ouch, 1156 processor" no, not really. Had this for very long time. Sandy Bridge wasn't even out. I get to skip SB, and SBE. Not sure on Ivy bridge since it is 77w hmmm very tempting. But I think my bro's might. Since, they still on Q6600.

but it is the TIM between the cpu and the Integrated Heat Spreader . Not between the Integrated Heat Spreader and heatsink fan.

Thx on the 4ghz. But I was referring on the temps. That I also have around 7c diff. Notice my core 3 is 6c - 7c lower than core number 0.

1.475volts, and picture up that is that voltage.

Ahh right. Yeah I don't think it's that much of a difference though with the IHS and lapped vs unlapped. I'm not rich enough to remove the IHS and risk ruining a $300 chip either. I still think it's just mostly to do with the way the sensors work. They just aren't accurate at lower temperatures.

Yeah, I was kinda kidding about the "ouch" remark. Any i7 is quite a remarkable chip. I stuck with LGA775 for years, skipping over 1366 and 1156, and went with 1155. I previously had a Q6600 @ 3.2 (still have it running as a matter of fact.)

Anyway here's my 2600K @ 4.3 temps (Core Temp says it's 3.4GHz but it's wrong)

As you can see, same thing with my CPU as everyone else, core temperatures aren't exact, at such low temps. Perhaps you are right though, the IHS can have imperfections, nothing is perfect.

Here's my CPU-Z:

It says my Vcore is only 1.08V, I wish, it's actually 1.31V.
