[DSL] Customer for 10+ years... suddenly noticing speed issues

Have been a DSLX customer for over 10 years, and have referred many friends/family to the service.

Have had no problems with the current service package of 3000-6000 until just recently.. the past few weeks I have been noticing speed/lag issues, and during speed tests, I am seeing 1200-1400, when in years past, it's always been in the 5000 range...

Nothing, not a single thing, has changed on my side at all.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Re: [DSL] Customer for 10+ years... suddenly noticing speed issu

In most cases, slowdowns aren't caused by changes made by the customer or the ISP, but rather just general wear and tear on the physical equipment. In most cases, there are thousands of feet of copper wire between you and your local Central Office (or Remote Terminal, whichever happens to be the case), and if that line deteriorates at any point throughout that length, it can affect your signal strength and speed. Other factors closer to home are certainly possible, including modems and/or inside wiring deteriorating, DSL filters burning out, or even problems with the phone box itself (we have known cases of unusual problems such as finding a wasp nest in the phone box!)... but in most cases, it usually turns out to be something on the outside line, which the customer has no control nor responsibility over. Those lines are maintained by the local telephone company. If you've been using the same lines for over 10 years... I'm betting some line maintenance is probably in order.

Go ahead and IM me your info, and I'll get a rep on it to investigate what's going on in your case.

Heh. I'm sincerely hoping they have not returned since; once is more than enough! =)

I have got similar issues with them for the last 18 months.
Nothing really changed. My advice, switch to another provider!
Good luck.

Tommer's speed is already back up to normal, actually, so if you're having similar issues I'm quite confident we can help you out too. As I mentioned in the other thread, go ahead and IM me your information and I'll have a tech check into your situation.
