Dlink search redirects

At first I thought this was just a virus that my husband picked up, but now I see it across all our wifi connected devices and have a hard time seeing how 1 virus could infect our entire home network, including smartphones and my Logitech Revue. Now I am wondering if Mediacom is responsible for the redirects. It started with my husband's laptop. When he tried searching, or even typing a direct URL such as Netflix, instead he would get a search page www1.dlink.com, which is odd as we don't even have a dlink router. The search page just takes us to unrelated pages. We eventually managed to get rid of the malware with the help of the nice folks over at bleepingcomputer.com. Next my laptop was infected. Now I am seeing the same redirects on my Android smartphone, my other laptop, my HTPC, and even my Chrome browser on my Logitech Revue media device connected to my TV! I find it very hard to understand how malware could infect our entire network this way, especially since the pcs at least are running up-to-date antivirus software. We're talking about 7 devices in total. Anyone else have this issue?

Umm, I did "curess" google, that's how I got to this forum.
Thanks, but your link doesn't really explain my issues. One, I don't have a dlink router, and two, I've already searched on Mediacom redirects and those apparently only occur on broken links. Mine even occur when typing a valid URL like Netflix.

Do you have any wired devices or just wireless? Have you verified that all of your wireless devices are connecting to your wireless network and not to a neighbor's unprotected wifi?

All my wireless devices are only connected to my network. All my neighbors have password protected networks, so I know I am not accidentally connecting to them. But now that you mention it, the only device that I haven't noticed the redirects on is my wired laptop that connects directly to my router. Hmmm. Do you think that means something?

have you actually checked (right now) to make sure there still on your router? you never know, a neighbor may have recently got a new router or some new neighbore moved in with an unsecured router and for what ever reason your items defaulted to the easiest to connect to.

That link I gave you is the same exact issue your having. Ignore that it's on a dlink router forum. I'd read that thread again and try what it says.

Your issue has nothing to do with Mediacom.

Yes, I'm sure Mediacom is redirecting your searches to Dlink.

Call your router manufacturer or chuck that dlink POS in the trash and get a Cisco/Linksys router instead.

Bad troll is bad.

How is your reply adding to this thread? Is it Mediacom or the router? If it's MC then the router doesn't matter....try being helpful for once.

If you read my OP, you'll see that I don't even have a dlink router. I have a netgear router.
If someone can explain how to opt out of MC redirects, I'll at least try that. I don't see how it can be that either, as I already explained that my redirects happen even with good URLs such as Netflix.com. From what I understand, MC redirects only happen for 404 errors or bad links.

When you get a Mediacom redirect, scroll to the bottom of the page. In very tiny print, there will be a link to "Opt out of this service". Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If you are getting real MC redirects, then it should let you opt out, but usually it comes back after a few weeks. MC can't even get this right...

It's not a mediacom redirect. Again for the 3rd time, read that link or at least say that you tried the solution it gives.

www1.dlink.com is not a mediacom redirect.

The majority of posters here are in fact correct at least in regards to this not being Mediacom's redirect. This www1.dlink.com is not a redirect associated with Mediacom in any way that I am aware of.

Since all devices are getting it then there may be something involving your router from what I have gathered on redirects affecting more than a single PC on an internal home network.

(A single PC on a home network getting a redirect could potentially be virus or Mal-ware related, so all devices would have to be infected for that to be true in your particular case.)
