I remember visiting my brother in California who dispelled the myth that California has no weather. "Totally false, he said. "There are definitely seasons. In the summer it's dry and cloudless, but in the winter there are clouds and sometimes it rains." |

The entire back was covered in snow. Damn cops should have nailed his ass for obstructed view. I see this all the time, batch of lazy ass people, who refuse to clean their cars, and figure the wind will take care of it. This pisses me off too. Lazy people that clean nothing other than the windshield or even just part of the windshield. Funny you bring that up, I know they have snow brushes. During that heavy snow winter we had a few years back, I got up to shovel the snow in the morning, and there was a car stuck up the road, a taxi. A live on a little side street and it rarely gets plowed so I suspect the driver got stuck overnight.
We called the cops, and while waiting the "owner" came by and tried to unstuck the car by shoveling with a snow brush. Needless to say the cops told the owner, they now owned the car and he couldn't touch it. A tow truck showed up at the top of the 4 way , dragged a cable a good distance down the road to pull out the car.
I'd hate to have seen the bill. -- No, I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake....... |

You don't have to see out the back of your car if you have two side mirrors. And there are a lot of lazy people, but some people can't reach the top of their car. I can't it's a pain in the ass, I don't have more than 2" of rotation above the top of my shoulder. Makes it difficult to clean the top of a vehicle. Though I do pay the neighbor kid to do it for me. |

jfmezeiPremium join:2007-01-03 Pointe-Claire, QC kudos:22 | reply to Wolfie00 There is a real snow fall today in Montreal. Had to meet someone at a Tim Hortons and decided to go there by bike. Temperature at -8 and nice real dry snow. But a fair amount of it, so the bike riding was challenging but quite doable.
They are predicting freezing rain, but I think this is a default prediction to cover their asses. It is too cold for freezing rain. |

quote: Environment Canada blows winter forecast
Environment Canada admits it was off its long-term forecast for Western Canada's winter.
In the fall, when the weather service was predicting what it would be like this winter, it said be prepared for temperatures colder than normal.
...snip...
"Boy, never have we been more wrong in the West as this year," said Dave Phillips, chief climatologist for Environment Canada.
"I mean, you know, to have just been normal would have been a real error," he added.
"But my gosh, when you come out of December and January to be the second-warmest on record, I mean, it really is embarrassing almost. I mean it truly, when you look at it, it's been sort of the non-winter."
In Winnipeg, the average daily high in December 2011 was 3.5 C. The normal is 9.7 C. Snowfall for the month was 5.2 cm, while the normal is 19.8 cm.
...snip...

Fire, Flood, Earthquake and Mud! He has never experienced either fire, flood, or mud. But I must say, seeing the swimming pool turned into a awesome wave pool was pretty cool! People outside of earthquake zones tend to think of it as a sort of vibration, but it's really more like a large-amplitude swaying.
And personally, with my Canadian heritage and collection of nostalgic Christmas lights and decorations that look nice against the white snowfall, I'd frankly rather have real Canadian winters. That's why I'm still here! |

Note I said TAXI DRIVER, come to Toronto to see what they are like. No actually they don't. Which is why the law states you have to have two side mirrors, or a clear back window and a drivers mirror. I've owned two different cars which didn't have a passenger side mirror. Taxi driver doesn't mean squat. But I've been to Toronto more times than I like, I commuted there from woodstock for nearly a year back about 10 years ago, and I'm still up there every few weeks. |

Wanna trade weather for a couple of days?
As if that weren't enough, I got home tonight to discover that my water heater was leaking. |

The nearly 3" of snow we got yesterday are all but gone.

Not much of a winter here either. Haven't seen one this warm since 1992 when it hit 22°C in February. |
