Smc 8014wg, and d-link dir-625 as access point.

Hi, my brother is trying to extend his network. He is currently with rogers, and using the smc 8014w-g. He also has a d-link dir-625. He would like to use the d-link as an access point. I tried to do thid yesterday, and searched on google. I couldn't figure it out. I was able to access both the d-link and smc setup menu's by typing 192.168.0.1 into firefox. I changed the d-link's ip to 192.168.0.2 so they both didn't have the same ip.

Is it possible to this , with this setup?

If it is possible, can some explain what setting needs to be changed on each router.

Thanks.

This can be done....but you must connect the smc lan port to a dlink lan port only.....
The smc needs no changes to it's configuration

Here are the changes you need to make to the dlink
Do not connect the dlink to the smc until after the changes are made to the dlink
Change the dlink ip address to 192.168.0.253
Disable the dlink dhcp server

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking for a wireless access point, not wired.

What you want is a wireless repeater, but the dir-625 has no wireless repeater feature
