 | [Cable] no stats on SB5101 cable modem on teksavvy west/shaw ?? The stats page showed up briefly as I connected but then disappeared following a shaw firmware/config update and now i cant open port 80 on 192.168.100.1 at all after the modem is connected to the shaw / teksavvy west network in vancouver. Does shaw disable the diagnostics page after the modem has connected ? Any way to get these stats after connect ? |

 | Re: [Cable] no stats on SB5101 cable modem on teksavvy west/shaw Unfortunately for us, there's no way to get to the stats once the modem has gotten an IP/is connected. The only people who have any visibility for the modem at that point is Shaw. |

| Question, i've been asked to look at 192.168.100.1 for my SNR and other stats.
Are you saying the reason why I can't get there is because of shaw? What is my teksavvy rep asking me to do?
I've spent weeks trying different things to login to the sb5101.
help thanks |

 | There's a small window of time after you reboot the modem while it's initializing where you will be able to connect to it (I'd say less than a 20s window or so) and get some details - but as mentioned after it connects, it disables the built in webserver/page. This is something that apparently Shaw does with all their modems (at least the motorola ones, confirmed by people who work at Shaw) for reasons I'm not entirely sure of.
I've already encountered a few TS reps asking for the info, so I'm not sure if they're all aware that Shaw configures their modems differently than say Rogers.
Shaw internally has a database which tracks this information, so their technicians can get access to that - but unfortunately for us Teksavvy customers, we're mostly left in the dark. |

| Thanks for the info...
I'm almost tempted to pay teksavvy the $80 for a cable modem instead of having shaw coming to check the damn thing. shouldn't the installer checked the cable modem once is was up? He just knocked on the door, said sign this and I said wait shouldn't I hookup the modem and you can test the signal? He said na, just plug it in....yep it works, it's online.
argh. Thanks for the reply.... |

 | nah. the installers use a specialized signal tester. they hook it up and measure the signal. if that works they dont care whether the modem gets an ip -- thats for their head office to figure out. Anyway mine is at 10dB and 48 so its ok. |
