[Info] How many of you still use older versions of Office?

Just want to ask if how many out here still use an older version of office here? Just for a quick poll. Nothing fancy.

I still use Office 2003 SP3. But when MS decides to not have the support for it anymore, can I still use it?

I just dont like the ribbon style stuff on 2007 and 2010....
2003 is easier to use.

Thanks.

Office 2003 is here. And I don't need any support - it just simply works...

I use Word 2002 SP3 (Office XP SP3). I have the final Works Suite (2006) that includes Word 2002.

I can't stand the ribbon. I don't know what I will do when I get a new computer sometime this year. I don't want Word with the ribbon.

I still use Office XP (2002) on my Windows XP Pro system

I too do not like the ribbon.

I am looking at OpenOffice or LibreOffice as a replacement.

2003 Office and Visio, Still does everything just fine.

Even though I have been weeding off to Linux, there has been no real substitute for Visio.

Office 2003, Office 2007, Office 2010 on different machines. I much prefer Office 2003.

Libre office on linux, and I use that more than any of the others.

I tried LibreOffice a while ago, it just looks/act the same as OpenOffice. And it still requires Java. So I went back.

The ribbon can be hidden. Which makes it work similar to a traditional menu. From there you can customize the Quick Access Bar to the point you rarely even need to pull the ribbon menu down, especially when you know a few keyboard shortcuts as well.

Office XP here (on Windows XP).

Remember, Office upgrades are hardly "vital". For the vast majority of people, there's no need to update it. As long as converters for older versions allow people to open "new" version's files, there's even LESS incentive to update.

As far as I know, if you own a legal version of Office XP (Office 2002), I don't see why when you purchase a new computer, you remove whatever version of office is on there, and then install Office XP.

This actually would apply to anyone who has a version of Office they like. I see many posts here that people use something other then Office (OpenOffice, or LibreOffice for example), and if they were to purchase a new computer with a pre-installed version of Windows and Office, they probably just removed whatever version of Office was installed, and installed the version they like.

In answer to the OP's question, I'm running Office 2010, because I actually like the ribbon. However, my uncle is still running Office 2003, as he likes the functionally, has the toolbar all configured the way he wants it, and knows all the features.

Office 2007 at work and nothing at home.

I love the ribbon. It exposed so many features front-and-center that I had no idea existed or had to click through many toolbar buttons/menus/context menus to do.

The ribbon is very very confusing and annoying as well,
I hate it. It looks VERY childish, silly and goofy....

Im thinking about OpenOffice, but it loads very slowly sometimes because it is Java based, and Office is not. And does not have any email client included unlike MS Office.

I will just stick with Office 2003.

From a security standpoint, I dont really care if MS will not support security patches for older versions as I rarely open up or receive attachments....And have all macros disabled.

Can you please elaborate on the "very very confusing" part?
