1 edit | Fastest Internet? It's Complicated Fastest Internet? It's Complicated Many Internet service providers have laid claim to the title of "fastest" broadband speeds over the years. But who's right?
By most standards, it's hard to argue with Verizon Communications Inc. Its FiOS service offers faster Internet service than other major providersup to 150 megabits per second, compared with the highest advertised from a cable operator of 105 Mbps offered by Comcast Corp.
Probably more important, Verizon consistently delivers more than it advertises, according to a study conducted by the Federal Communications Commission published in August.
Last spring the FCC compared Internet speeds advertised by 13 broadband providers to the actual speeds experienced by a set of about 6,800 users for both upstream and downstream traffic.

 | kind of a replay of this: »Cablevision Sues Verizon Over FiOS Ads |
|
 | The sad part is that their own ads prove that Verizon is the fastest. They claim Verizons 15/15 is equal to their fast internet. Unfortunately 15/15 is not the one you start with is 25/25 poor cablevision LMAO |

I can thank all those nice landlords, management personal etc etc. They say by late spring or early summer . I wish i could at lest get the 35/35 so i don't get the lovely buffering when all the internet devices at home are on Pepsiman. |

 | reply to Thespis We already have a tax for that Thespis. Also look at it this way tax it and make it fair or use the sudo "hey let the free market screw you with no lube because we are americans and americans pick themselves up by their boots straps.....as long as they are the middle class and not poor or working class". Not taking a shot at you Thespis but to the folks that use this mentality that approve a companies way of raping its customers, because they believe that someday they will do the same once their little start up takes off. |

We don't need another agency that makes rules independent of elected lawmakers. That's just going to cost more money that we don't have. We have laws. If a company is doing something illegal, use the law to stop them. If they're doing something that's not yet illegal to screw their customers, make it illegal. Our elected officials for too long have passed the buck to "agencies" who are charged by congress to do a job but allowed to make their own rules to accomplish that job. When the agency screws up, Congress and the White House can hide behind plausible deniability. Until elected officials decide to take both responsibility and blame in addition to praise for the laws they pass, nothing will change. Congress needs term limits and laws that prohibit their personal gain from laws that they pass and market information that only they have access to. If being a member of Congress didn't equal money and power, maybe people would actually go there to serve their constituents. I know, I'm a dreamer... -- Fast. Cheap. Safe. Pick two... |

 | The problem Thespis
Is that those companies get slap on the wrist and on their way they go to lie ,cheat and steal from its customers."hi there cablevision". Why i keep hating on cablevision you ask is simple. They keep lying and when you had to deal with then is like dealing with a mob boss. Last few years they have been on the fore front of blocking competition in NY . One good example of this was when Cablevision bought out the old cable service in coop city. Now if anybody else wants to provide a better service they will get denied asap.
Also the term limits dream won't happen because theres groups of citizens and companies that will fight you tooth and nail to keep their candidate in power. The same can't be say about a president but thats because congress decided that Roosevelt was too good for their agenda. The thing people need to understand is this, taxes are part of life, if you don't have no revenue then say goodbye to services. Look when the state that has the most taxes in the North East is MA and yet they are number 1 in education, living etc etc. I just look at it that way. |
