Tired of my AT&T lines having bad line problems with no service 4x so far in 2011/12. Just looking for any comments from users in the City of SF about Comcast's Internet service & speed. I already have TV w/them so this would be an add on. TV service so far pretty good for 16yrs with only 2 line problems (loose connections in basement). Thanks for you comments in advance... |

 | Re: [Speed] Looking to switch from AT&T to Comcast in SF any com I have the Comcast service just to the south of San Francisco. I can't tell you if your experience would be the same as mine since we are on different nodes. Most likely your node has 8 channels of downstream on DOC 3 available and 3 channels of upload meaning that you probably should be able to avoid timeout issues as long as you have a DOC 3 modem even if you are on a busy node. I got 25 mbps down and 5 mbps up on Speedtests pretty consistently throughout the day over the past year. Recently I got the Blast tier which gets about 35 mbps down with about the same upload as before. The service I think was down for me once for about an hour or so during the past year for some system upgrades (I think that might have been around when upstream channel bonding was rolled out). Latency is pretty low so the connection would work well for playing video games or streaming video online. |

 | I would also recommend you look into Sonic.net. Their service has been extremely reliable for me and a much better value than either at&t or Comcast and has no usage caps. |
