 | [Northeast] Moca bridge works but can't file share I have successfully added a second Actiontec MI424WR router as a Moca bridge to my existing FIOS setup. My FIOS service is internet only, no TV or phone service. A diagram of the setup can be found at this link.

Referencing the above diagram, all four computers listed have internet access. The problem is PC #1 and #2 are unable to see PC #3 and #4 for file sharing.
I searched the net and found some posts regarding this but none of them involved a Moca bridge setup. Can anyone offer suggestions to allow all computers to see each other for file sharing purposes? |

Please post your diagram here (using preview/attach). I can't see the page you posted. -- There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't.

The guide you mentioned above was the one I followed when setting up the Moca bridge.
I have attached the diagram in pdf format to this post. |

Scyber join:2001-12-28 Trenton, NJ | reply to catback I think the problem is that computers #1 and #2 are behind the linksys router, while computers #3 and #4 are only behind the actiontec only. Depending on your router config, the computers are effectively on 2 separate networks. |

More FiberPremium,MVM join:2005-09-26 West Chester, PA kudos:18 | reply to catback Your problem has nothing to do with the MOCA bridge. The LAN-to-WAN connection to the Linksys which places it on a different subnet.
Follow the directions in the following FAQ for connecting the Linksys LAN-to-LAN. »Verizon Online FiOS FAQ »Can I use my wireless or an extra router along with the Verizon provided router? -- There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't.

 | reply to catback If I follow the LAN-to-LAN guide you mentioned, will I still have the problem with the small NAT table found in the Actiontec? I was under the impression if you connected LAN-to-WAN instead as shown in the diagram, you bypassed the NAT table in the Actiontec and instead used the Linksys' table.
We subscribe to several streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) so I wanted to avoid problems with the Actiontec's NAT table size when streaming to multiple computers. |

What rev. of the Actiontec do you have? If you have a rev. E or newer, you shouldn't have a problem with the NAT table. »Verizon Online FiOS FAQ »What is the NAT Table problem in the Actiontec?
said by catback:I was under the impression if you connected LAN-to-WAN instead as shown in the diagram, you bypassed the NAT table in the Actiontec and instead used the Linksys' table. Not true. LAN-to-WAN causes you to be double-NATed, so you are subject to both NAT tables.said by catback:We subscribe to several streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) so I wanted to avoid problems with the Actiontec's NAT table size when streaming to multiple computers. Streaming services should have minimal impact on the NAT table. | reply to catback Both of the Actiontec routers I'm using are rev D.
If I used option #4 for the internet only bridge, would I still have the double NAT scenario with the same file sharing problems?
Under this option, is the Actiontec's LAN port connected to the second router's LAN or WAN port? I didn't see this specified in the FAQ.
Disregarding the NAT table issue since Netflix has minimal impact on this, is there any advantage to using option #3 over #4 or vice versa for my specific setup (ie. internet only with file sharing amongst all PCs)? |
