Re: Where did Google get it ? said by gwalk:No, no youtube, facebook or other. I don't think anyone I know has a gmail account. I suppose a forward is possible. It should be obvious -- your ISP gave it to them. -- If we lose this freedom of ours, history will record with the greatest astonishment, those who had the most to lose, did the least to prevent its happening. |

| reply to Mele20 said by Mele20:What a shame. I didn't know this site was using Google and Paypal now for toolpoints. (Not that I liked Yahoo one but of the evils, I consider it the lessor). I hate Paypal. Got burned by them and was in one of the class actions against them. I would never use them nor would I use Google, for toolpoints here, or for any reason. I had a couple of ISP customers that required that I use some of this sites tools for generating reports when troubleshooting problems for their customers (and without the tool points, I often would run into this sites limitations for repeated usage of some of the tests), so I had no real choice but to flip a coin and use either Google or PayPal.
Now that I have finally been able to fully retire, I no longer have that need, but Google now has my name, real address, email address, and a credit card number.
I preferred to use the Yahoo! checkout because my ISP at that time already required me to have a Yahoo! account in order to be able to maintain my account (they subcontracted their customer email and account admin functions to Yahoo!). -- History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. -- Dwight D. I know there are limitations on some of the tools...how many tests per 24 hours, etc and tool points gets you in the prime queue and lets you do unlimited tests, etc. I know some ISPs did/do contract with Yahoo for mail so Yahoo already had your info.
I'm thinking what if I wanted to gift someone with a premium membership and then wanted to replenish my tool points? I was gifted with Premium membership years ago (grandfathered was not the same as premium). I guess I should have passed it forward way back when Yahoo was still used. Ah....well....I think the change may cost the site some income. -- When governments fear people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. Thomas Jefferson |

said by Dude111:I do email someone ON GMAIL from the account i got the email in,i wonder if thats how they got it!.... Was about to post new about this when a search turned up this thread. I have two seldom used yahoo email accounts, and a few gmail non-free accounts via my ISP (DSL Extreme) since the ISP outsources their email service to google.
I found the Change to Google Privacy Policy email in the older of the two yahoo inboxes. I've been checking over the details and the only reasonable connection I can find between the two providers is that I have sent test messages back and forth between them. Otherwise no YT login, no FB, never used other google services, and I use throw-away email addresses for many things. |

Re: Where did Google get it ? Don't happen to own an Android smartphone, do you?
Ever hear of Xobni or smartr ?
In my smartr contacts list, I've got people who correspond with people who correspond with people with whom I correspond. (So, you don't need to use the product or even have a direct e-mail correspondent who uses the product in order to get tagged.) -- Regards, Joseph V. Morris |
