Firefox Extended Support Release(ESR)available

Mozilla Firefox Extended Support Release
by Kev Needham - January 31, 2012 via Planet Mozilla

quote:
Just a quick note that the Mozilla Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) is now available.

The ESR is based on Mozilla Firefox 10, and is intended to be used by organizations that deploy Firefox in a managed desktop environment.

You can read more about the Windows, Mac, and Linux installers from the Mozilla website, and additional information can be found in the Firefox ESR FAQ.

Organizations who use the Firefox ESR are also strongly encouraged to join the join the Mozilla Enterprise User Working Group; a discussion group focused on sharing information related to Firefox deployments.

I just stumbled on the release elsewhere.

Anyone can download it and use it which is great. No need now to be forced to be on the insane, constant updates that consumer Fx has.

I still am using Fx4.01 and I have no problems that would indicate that I need a higher version of Fx (at least nothing that is fixed in later versions like memory hogging). That may be because I am also still on XP Pro (with Mozilla blocking my video card for HTML5). Nonetheless, many users have no need for the incessant updates of current consumer Fx so it is very nice that anyone can download and use the ESR version. But I'm not installing the ESR version for awhile because I learned long ago NEVER rush to install new versions of programs because they are likely quite buggy at first.
