1 edit | [MacBook Air] Not So Instant On I have the latest gen 13" MacBook Air, and I have to say I am disappointed about one thing. The so called instant on feature after opening it. There have been times when I opened the Air and it's taken anywhere between 10 seconds to 3 minutes before it starts to respond to clicks or the keyboard. Has anyone else had this problem? -- iMac 2.5 Ghz i5 (Lion/Windows 7) - MacBook Air 13" 1.7 Ghz i5 (Lion) - iPhone 4 (ATT) 32 Gig |

1 edit | My screen fires up when you wake it, but the mouse takes around 10 seconds (not much more than that and no way near the few minutes you mentioned) to wake up. See »MacBook Air trackpad unresponsive for a few seconds on wake |

 | reply to ArchAngel21x I have the same problem: sometimes instant on, sometimes a delay 10-30 sec |

| reply to ArchAngel21x as far as I can tell, the MBA has several sleep states. If it's just dozing, it comes back immediately, but if it's really sleeping, it takes 10-15 seconds. Sometimes if I unplug the external monitor, triggering sleep, then open it to the built-in display, it takes forever to come back. -- -Ryan I use Linux, OS X, iOS and Windows. Let the OS wars die. |

| reply to ArchAngel21x I don't have a lot of programs open. It just occurred to me that the one time it was beach balling for 3 minutes was right after I hit switch user and it stayed on screen with different accounts for 3 minutes. Does that fact that I'm using file vault make a difference? -- iMac 2.5 Ghz i5 (Lion/Windows 7) - MacBook Air 13" 1.7 Ghz i5 (Lion) - iPhone 4 (ATT) 32 Gig |

Does that fact that I'm using file vault make a difference? File Vault might add a small amount of delay because it must reinitialize the decryption of the HD based on your password. However, 3 Minutes is not normal in any way. You may have stumbled onto a bug by trying to switch users after waking the computer as File Vault needs an approved password to decrypt the HD.
