| Alternate Cable ISP Options in Oakville Cogeco Territory? I see that Acanac is telling me I can get their unlimited 24Mbps cable in Oakville. Postal code L6H.
But then I understood late last year that there weren't any other options in Cogeco area. So, is this true now? Anyone in Oakville/Burlington switch over to an alternate cable ISP? |

| Just checked their site and it says I'm good in central Oakville... I may have just wet myself, but I'll have to make a phone call to be sure.

Acanac is on crack, there (as of this writing) no TPIA providers in Cogeco land. The costs were too high. |

I emailed and gave my postal code and someone with the email "colinb" emailed back to say that yes it's available.
But it does sound like this would be a huge deal.
Come to think of it, it must be fake. Because why would the deal in Cogeco territory match the deal in Rogers territory? |

It's not fake, but a CSR who is mis-informed. If Distrbutel was doing TPIA in Cogecoland, you would hear about it.

kudos:1 | I think I might have mixed up the terminology. Dark Fibre is rolling out your own fibre.
So what I got from the thread is that a wholesale provider would need to string their own fibre from 151 Front (or wherever is best for them) to a place called Syscon in Burlington ON. I don't know if it's still the same with their latest tariff, but I know that with the new stuff, Cogeco wants something around $28000/GBit/s. So a wholesale ISP's pricing would probably be slightly lower than Cogeco's, but with a somewhat higher cap. |

It looks like a sure bet that no one would ever consider tpia'ing their territory... could the CRTC not see the excessive pricing?

There should be lots of dark fibre along the railway tracks that one could light up.
The real test will come when Rogers finally gets their act to get and creates the single POI for Ontario.
