Cracks in drywall above windows

Single story house built in 1964.

I've noticed several of the windows in the house have cracks in the corners which run from the top of the window to the ceiling. I painted ~2 years ago so these are newish. Is this a sign the house is settling or something else?

If it's not on Google, then it doesn't exist.

Live load on the roof (wind) can cause it to move enough to do that. I wound up taping over some places on mine with flexible plastic tape and putting latex paint over that. No more cracks because the tape and paint could flex enough.

Taping won't slice it on that textured surface, it'll stand out like a sore thumb, no matter what.
I would fill the crack with some Alex Plus acrylic latex/silicone caulk (alex stays flexible), then just paint over it after it cures.

Sure, I can keep of fixing the cracks, but I'm also interested in WHY they occur all over the house.

I'd be interested in the WHY too... mom's house was built in 1966 (the walls look rather similar in texture!)

She has a few of those cracks, and a couple doors that dont shut well... I know I know, get the foundation checked...

It could be settling, but that usually doesn't keep moving after the initial voids are compressed. My issue was live loads from the roof flexing during high winds and from snow loads. That NEVER stops moving and I had to use the flexible crack bridge (yeah, you can't use tape here) to keep it from opening up.

That happens to me re: the roof, of course only when we get those gust of 60mph and then they pop up again. So I use vinyl Spackle to help.
