[speed/latency] Terrible Speed at Night

Every evening at about 5:00 pm my Fairpoint DSL speed drops from my daily average of 6Mbps to 1.5 or less and stays at that speed till about midnight. This has been going on since November. I have made nearly a hundred calls to Fairpoint regarding this, I have even called people in upper management and the problem remains.
I have had several Fairpoint techs come to my house, they have tested our wiring and they have all said that it was a problem with the network. DUH!
They have supposedly changed equipment at the local switch facility to no avail.
I am so frustrated by this that I am considering changing service to Comcast.
Is anyone else in Vermont having this same problem?

Nashua, NH
See all those "slow speed" threads below your post? My suspicion is that it's not a network "problem" per se but FairPoint trying to make do by not paying (Verizon) for sufficient bandwidth from their network to the broader Internet.

It usually occurs between 8 PM to 11-12 PM/AM, but this has been going on since about 6PM last night and it's currently 8:30 AM and still having massive slow downs:

And here we go again. From yesterday evening 6PM to about 9AM this morning network slowdown, then a few hours later EVERYTHING become inaccessible and I couldn't even ping anything including Fairpoints office.

And here it is just a little after 9PM and the network slowdown is happening once again.

·Bright House Net..
The issue is with the OC48 being overrun with customers. They are not going to upgrade and connect another OC48. It has been said by a women in Manchester who works in the broadband department that they have no future plans to fix the problem.

Contact the PUC in NH and file an official complaint. The more complaints the more reason to kick these asswipes out of the state. Failpoint is BAD for NH business

·Time Warner Cable
·Fairpoint Commun..
Why specify that, "Failpoint is BAD for NH business," when it is EVEN worse in ME and VT. They are bad for Business PERIOD! And the solution? Complete cable monopolization. This is America, if you're not making DOLLARS on the PENNY then it isn't worth it. That is the downfall of our economy. I'll tell you what, I would rather have a 5GB 3G plan than anything unFairpoint, they suck so bad. Thank you future monopoly Verizon for a shaddy and destine to fail deal.
