1 edit | said by bbiab:And if you go over? I didn't ask about that. The off-peak free time was my main question.
That overage question is being bashed about in this thread... »Automatic rollover to unlimited plan. How does this work?
TSI Roger has promised some answers. I must warn you though; it's gettin messy in there!
And since 2M/800K has no corresponding unlimited plan, the "standard answers" may not apply.
edit: OK, I submitted a follow-up question in the DF about overages on HS DSL2. |

 | Quick update from my Direct Forum follow-up question about overages on HS DSL2...
"Because this is a new plan, Billing is currently working on how the usage billing will work with it."
So, basically, they were unprepared. Keep an eye on the "Automatic rollover" thread for an answer. |

Someone (Jasmo, I think) passed my Q on to TSI Direct. |

| reply to oxymoron69 For anyone following along, some new info:
Existing lite tier customers are assigned a 300GB rolling cap with unlimited off-peak usage.
Once you go off 2mbit, you can't take that tier again and get the same allowance, you get a 25GB rolling cap with a max overage charge of $5 if you go over 2 months in a row.
Thanks for listening TSI! |
|
 | I agree Oxy. This does seems like a pretty good deal for the current DSL LITE users. I posted similar thoughts over in the "When do new speeds take effect?" forum.
I wish I could get that plan, as a downgrade from 5M.
Is that overage charge a 'max $5' or 'always $5'? |

Some supplementary questions in MY mind, regarding their new DSL2 'LITE' plan are :
If I was to start a new account and ASK for that plan, OK, I understand that my monthly usage cap would be 25GB.
(And my basic monthly costs would be $24.99 + $1.50 = $26.49, plus any fees related to Dry Loop if applicable, and of course HST.)
But, IF I was to regularly exceed THAT cap (easy to do - ask any B$ELL retail customer ),
(1) How frequently would I be charged the $5 overage fee ? (every month, or every 2 months ?)
and
(2) Does it matter by how much I went over my 25GB cap, or is that not important ?
Also, they said that there IS no charge for OFF-PEAK usage on this plan, right ?
Do you see where I am going with this ? |

No link - y'all know the way there....
BTW, it starts with 75GB of on-peak usage. |

edit: just saw it but it's not lite it's an option on the 6 meg plan. Still a great idea. |

2 edits | reply to Davesnothere Nothing new there, is there DNT? At least not for Ontario.
Those plans were all announced early January. (edit1: I know, I emailed them about the $30.95 plan Jan. 6)
Well, yes, they've now fixed up the website, so we don't have to click and read the PDF now.
Acanac to announce some plans Feb. 7th I hear, from CdnBB forum; they were releasing 'hints' Monday... |

That's not THEIR name for it, but it IS the $30.95 'new' deal - one of those behind the link on their DSL page.
So far no $1.50 BS (B$ELL Surcharge).
I was calling it 'LITE' due only to the usage offered.
BTW, by MY standard, almost ANYTHING offered by B$ELL would qualify as LITE.
I guess it's not all that LITE, compared to B$ELL.
UPDATE : eBox seems to have completed their rate page updates - easier to see and compare all speeds together now. |

Re: Getting more gigs for the basic/lite tier? If you're willing to pay 28.99 per month (overages), the 2mbit is basically unlimited. You could push through close to 600GB per month. |

And many crappy old unmaintained B$ELL lines wont go much faster than that speed anyway. |
