Cable and Internet for McKinney

Just curious... Currently, I live in McKinney, TX. I have TWC for my internet/cable tv. My internet is the "broadband turbo" speed, and for the television I have the dual-tuner DVR box by Motorola (DCX3400). The issue: the internet is decent during the day, but at night and on weekends it slows down CONSIDERABLY; as to the cable box, this is my third one - there doesn't seem to be much in the way of fine control for fast-forward/rewind and it always tends to jump several minutes, also the hard-drives don't seem to last very long in these boxes - they pixelate, etc...

So, what seems to be the best alternative in the McKinney area? U-verse is available to me as well as satellite. I am looking for the best internet speed I can get. I would like to upgrade to "DOCSIS 3.0" type speed. As to the television, I don't watch a lot of sports or blue-ray movies, but I would like a reliable dual-tuner DVR and as many HD channels as possible. Any suggestions?

If anyone has U-verse or the TWC DOCSIS 3.0 in McKinney, I would be interested in knowing about your satisfaction with your internet speed and if you notice slowdowns in the evenings or weekends. Thanks.

I've got TWC over here in Frisco (as it's all I can get at my house, except for 1.5 Mbps DSL which I dismiss out of hand) and I have seen the exact same thing as you, also on the Turbo tier (20/2). This past weekend the speeds were really quite terrible. They've been better during this week.

My friend who also lives in Frisco has U-Verse and loves it. Says its very reliable, stable and speeds are as advertised. Only thing to note with U-Verse is that there is a 250 GB (I think?) hard usage cap each month.

FiOS would be the ultimate, but we'll never see it in my part of Frisco.

Hi guys.. I had TWC in Richardson and experienced the same thing. Around dinner time our internet slowed down considerably. I was told that is expected during peak hours for cable (after school, dinner, parts of weekend), and during off peak hours I had no issues. You're probably facing the same issue.

I now live in Mckinney and have Uverse, we love it. I have FTTP now so it is a different situation, but we have no issues with Uverse. We did not like the TWC outdated DVR and DVR channel lineup (mixed analog/dig/HD together). Uverse has a much cleaner DVR setup, channel lineup is separated, easy to use, works great with the iphone/ipad apps. I would highly recommend it. My wife records shows and does the 2HD streams at once and it works well, she'll switch to the 4standard if it is shows she doesn't care about (save space). I have a PC wired to the gateway, everything else wireless... ex., I can stream an HD movie via netflix on the PS3 from a different floor in the house no problems using the provided gateway.

I know with Uverse most people have issues pertaining to the install. I had to wait 2 weeks for the Mckinney area-and was told it was up to a 1month waiting period. Any issues I run across I report them and so far everything is running fine.
