Re: Why Videotron does not offer higher cap/lower price

said by SHY:I'm not quite sure what the consequences of giving up two services will be, but I'm sure that I will lose most if not all of my discounts. I don't care.....I'm fed up with Videotron.

Are there no further consequences? I'm on a contract, but since I'm not dropping all my services with them, I figured the contract isn't affected. Either way, these bundle discounts aren't worth it.

Most probably no discounts left at all. That's how they keep us in.

Why even bother asking this question, with ACTA passed (only pending official votes from countries) and SOPA/PIPA back on the table end of February, you won't need higher caps anymore as most of the internet will be taken over by the one world communist state.

Also, UNLIMITED is just a gimmick, there is no such thing as UNLIMITED. Remember back when Videotron had unlimited ? It wasn't really unlimited. There was an unofficial cap but was enforced at Videotron's discretion based on individual cases (repeated abuse etc.) some say this magic number was 100GB lol.

So any ISP that promises you unlimited cap, well, nobody will let you download 1Tb per month forever.......at some point, ISPs have filters and accounts get flagged, eventually you will get called or sent a letter. Remember you are sold a RESIDENTIAL internet based on unlimited ACCESS......but bandwidth is never unlimited. If you download such huge amounts it no longer becomes a residential access.........Remember that access does not mean 24/7 downloading and no ISP in their right minds would allow this.

Besides, ACTA allows now countries to apply laws and allows ISPs to monitor incoming and outgoing packets, soon, you'd better be careful, if you download 1 TB per month it would better be all LEGIT or you can end up being escorted by some men in black in some remote prison for piracy and conspiracy to commit piracy bla bla bla - check megaupload lol. All this while the pedophiles get 1-2 years and the crazy people keep walking the streets because the asylums are too full.

What a nice society we live in don't you think ???

I'll find out soon as I just signed up with Ebox a couple of days ago. At the same time, I am going to cancel my landline and the only thing I will have left with Videotron will be the television. Right now I get some pretty decent discounts, so as soon as I get my first complete bill with just the tv part, I will post the results here. Should be interesting....I really am not sure what to expect.

SHY, are you not under contract?

Either way, thanks for letting us know.

GRT : To vote for it doesn't mean to apply it. Canada ratified the Kyoto agreement and never applied it anywhere and now they left so I wouldn't worry to much right now. As soon as i have unlimited i'm going Netflix and I will be doing 100% legit downloads and uploads. I'm already buying my games with Steam most of them are not small. Last big game was COD was something like 15 - 20 gb. I dont know for you but 20 gb on 150 gb is a big portion of it.

No contract. Videotron doesn't have them anymore for residential.
