 | Concurrent Tek/Rogers Install Question Hello,
I've got a TekSavvy install set up next week. I'm still keeping my rogers internet until it Tek is up and running. I live in a condo and I have my rogers modem pretty much right beside my only outlet. I'm wondering when the tech comes, will he refuse to install Tek if he sees that I have rogers internet running? Should I hide my rogers modem and just give him the new modem I'm using for Tek? |

 | reply to tekky He "should" give you a splitter, and split the line coming out of the outlet, and let you have both modems running side by side. This is what they did for me. |

The technician shouldn't care, but when I switched to Distributel I wanted to be "safe", so I disconnected my Rogers modem and replaced it with the modem from Distributel. He checked the line for signal strength and then emailed that the service is good to go. About 20 mins later the Distributel modem was up and running and I could swap modems back and forth without issue. As far as he knew, it was a simple initial setup for cable internet from a third party. No need for him to know about the Rogers account. |

 | Make absolutely sure it's tagged TPIA. |

1 edit | reply to tekky When you try to sign up for TekSavvy online it asks if you currently have service from Rogers and if you do it says, "You must cancel your existing service prior to placing an order" and it asks for your Rogers cancellation date. It also says that if you already have Rogers service then TekSavvy doesn't have to send a technician (which I would prefer, I don't want to have to wait at home for a technician). I would like to switch to TekSavvy but was worried about being without internet during the switch, but apparently I can keep Rogers and overlap Rogers and TekSavvy cable internet service a week or two, before getting rid of Rogers? And this won't cause any problems? [Edit: I don't have cable TV] |

 | reply to tekky Thanks everyone, I'm keeping the cable TV account so I don't have to worry about the TPIA part (part of condo fees). |
