 | [Internet] Bell WiMax termination.... I am happily on the WiMax as well. Bell is telling me I can switch to their TurboHub. Obviously they don't read their records. i was on the TurboHub for 2 months. It cost me over $3000!!!! and I screamed at them and had to send a complaint to the CRTC before they would cancel it. If they shut down this service I may finally get rid of the entire Bell service which has been in this house for over 55 years - too bad they insist on shooting themselves in the feet.... |

 | Sounds quite pricey for something that is actually free in some cities around the world. |

If they didn't get rid of it now, they would have gotten rid of it eventually. The technology is no longer being developed, and the parts will no longer be available in the future for Bell to maintain the WiMax service. |

 | Exactly why standards are developed, and exactly why Bell & Rogers made a choice to not follow them. Bell and Rogers want customers to use their cellular solutions (which they have more of, and also charge more to use). Even if its an early version, had it been left intact god forbid another telecom or cable company ask (or be given the rights) to use it - that would be competition! |

So can you explain why the outdated technology is cheaper than the new one? |

 | reply to Sangrael I've also been informed by Bell the turbo hub is my only option when WyMax worked amazingly for us. I've spent 2 weeks trying to find a cheaper alternative and even though Roger cable is here, I can't get the service because I'm in an 'explosive growth area' meaning all possible net providers have been locked out and Rogers isn't hooking anyone else up. Thing is, big swaths of subdivisions 1 street down from us are being built and they can get it. DSL is unavailable. Towers are owned by Bell & Rogers. |

What I find odd is that every residential customer I know that has WiMAX is being terminated. I am a business subscriber (Bell Business Internet Portable) and have not received any info, and have been told that my service is still available for the time being and there are no known plans to deactivate my service. |

 | reply to kat905 Where do you live? We have options available throughout southern Ontario. Much more reasonable, reliable than HSPA. |
