Moving to another home in the same town, service transfer?

I currently have FiOS business with a static IP.

I might be moving to another home in the same town. The home is eligible for FiOS so that's not a problem. When/if the home is ours, we'll have a little time to get things done before we move in.

What's the easiest way to move my service? Can Verizon install FiOS to the new home while keeping the other connection active for a short period of time to facilitate a service move? Or, because of billing and everything else, would it simply be easier to open a new account with new service and just pay the etf for cancelling the old account?

If anyone has ever done this before, any tips would be great. Thanks.

Good question... Im in the same boat... I think the best way is to make a new order and then cancel/return your excisting STBs/Router... of course if you not have contract...

Contrary to the suggestion made just above, do NOT cancel your service and re-order.

1) If you want to keep your same phone number in the same town, you must transfer your service (unless you port the number to a new cell phone service (because you probably want to keep your existing cell number too) for 30 days and then port the number back to your new FIOS account at your new house)

2) If you want to keep your VZ.net email addresses, you must transfer your existing account to the new home, otherwise your old email goes up in smoke the moment you cancel the old account. You can't move the old email to a new account.

3) If you have multi-year bundle plan with an early termination fee, any savings you might see from a better price for the new account probably will be eaten by the ETF.

I'm not concerned about keeping the phone number. nobody uses the house phone. I'm more concerned about the internet being set-up before we get settled in. Also, not concerned about my verizon email either, I don't use that.

This home will need to have FiOS installed and set up before we move in, but my question is still the same. I'm looking for someone else who has done a similar move before for advice.

The current service needs to stay active for the period of time that we're setting things up, but I'm not even sure if they can do that. I'd love to keep my current static IP as well but I've been reading around and that seems to be not possible. I'll call Verizon soon and ask about what can be done.

I'm locked into a contract but by the time we move it'll probably only have 6 months left to it - I would rather just pay the ETF here, and open a new account there if that will make this transition smooth. Verizon's accounting has never been the best for me so I'm a little worried about this.

Call a service rep or the Fios Service Center. I'm sure they'll wave the ETF since you're continuing service, but you'll have to ask about overlapping service at both addresses and keeping the static IP.
