Duct cleaning telemarketers

These are the only calls I ever get. Two this week. I get about one per week or so. At least the "I had my ducts cleaned already" reason works.

You need a "reason"?

I'm so fed up that I just play games with them, like tell them that duct cleaning is just exactly what I had in mind and I just need to get a pencil, then put them on hold until they give up and hang up!

I should probably register with the DNCL but maybe I'll just pony up a few bucks to add a call blocking service, which also lets you block unidentified numbers. A lot of these calls are repetitive. One place that apparently really, really wants me to have clean ducts has called 9 times so far, despite me putting them on hold while I "look for a pencil" each time!

The Canadian DNCL has poor enforcement, and it may be that some not-so-reputable telemarketers actually use it as a SOURCE of phone numbers to call.

If you get a good VoIP service (like your Canadian company Voip.MS based in Montreal) you can save lots of money overall, and get access to advanced call blocking features.

CallCentric is an excellent US-based VoIP provider that also provides Canadian service, again with useful call-blocking functions.

i actually had our furnace ducts cleaned last Friday. they really needed it so i called in a company with good review and reasonable price.

half an hour after he left a telemarketer called selling Ford duct cleaning.
I just messed with him. He introduced himeslf as James and with the accent he had I asked him if his real name was Manjit or Sanjay. He said no my name is James Morrison. So I asked him if he liked playing in the Doors, which he didn't get. I said You know the Doors had a big hit with Light My Fire? Then he got back to Ford duct cleaning so I said I dont own a Ford I own a VW. After that he gave up and wished me a nice day and hung up.

I don't even bother to dance the dance with these weasels anymore. They call 3 or 4 times a week and I just tell them to "F*ck off" and hang up. It's not even worth the time to report the violations to the DNCL any longer. First of all the DNCL has made reporting them a bigger nuisance than the calls themselves, and secondly with VOIP and MagicJack these assholes have a new number on a weekly basis.

I tell ya it's enough to drive a man to drink

Yep, get those calls several times a week. Then I get a call about once a week starting up with a ship's horn blaring, and the captain speaking, telling me my cruise is waiting for me! Grrrr!

The ship one I get occasionally on the cell phone. That's the most annoying of all because I'm not sure how to deal with it. I'm not going to publicize my cell phone number on DNCL because there are very very few such calls on that number, and that one is out of the US anyway so would be unenforceable. I'm thinking of complaining to Telus.

I actually have a number with VOIP and once a week or so I get a telemarketing call.

I have an app on my phone, figuring I could use it for Long Distance and when I'm low on Airtime.

It was a waste of money , "Canada's Most Reliable Network" is pretty much useless when it comes to VOIP

No, I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake.......

I get the Duct Cleaning service one as well (weekly at least) .. I think the call centre is off shore

Last Thursday they called, I told them I would love their service... we booked for Monday.. they called back on Saturday to confirm the monday appointment and that I would be paying cash of $120 after the ducts were cleaned... I said YES please come

Monday they show up at my door, I tell the guy that I dont want my ducts cleaned, and that he should tell his call center to stop calling me as I will book them to come everytime, and then not have them do anything

I figure the wasted time to drive here and the wasted gas MAY get their attention

I get the ship call every day between 1 and 1:30 - and it's on my company cell, so not sure how they got the number....

Haven't got the duct cleaning one yet; but I do get the automated "You're paying too much interest" one about 3 times a week... I'm on the DNCL - call-back/call display number is bogus, so pretty much screwed.

The stupid foghorn one is not a problem for me. It consistently comes from the same numbers so call screen takes care of that one.

It's the duct cleaners and the "security" companies that are like whack-a-mole. Different number every time. Isn't it wonderful to know that the GTA has 4 different area codes these days so slimeballs like these can set themselves up with an unlimited North American VOIP line anywhere in the world with a Toronto area code for less than $40 a year?

That would be this crew calling Canadians from a call center in Ft. Lauderdale. Quite the entertaining thread.

I rarely get spam calls anymore, but if I do, I use call block.
