 | Sick and tired of OOL issues From slow speeds during peak time to now a constantly resetting modem and blatant lies from Cablevision. Last week they had some sort of an outage and it killed my router. I had to reinstall the firm wear to bring it back from the dead. Modem was blinking ds light, us light was off.
Friday they had some sort of a "maintenance" and the modem was down for the entire day. Now, I'm getting resets every 10 to 20 minutes during routine surfing and streaming NBA League Pass. Modem goes to blinking ds light and us light it out. Called Cablevision again and this is where the lie happens. They claimed my modem has been online for a day. Fine, but I have two modems. They said mine was on for a full day uninterrupted and the other ws on for four days uninterrupted. Well, flat out lie. The other modem was turned off last night and a few hours ago.
Is anyhow else in the Stamford area experiencing the same problems? Here are my numbers from 192.168.100.1 if anybody knows how to decipher them. I can't.

 | Very interesting, I had a similar issue.
Out of the blue the cable modem kept on dropping the connection and would not come back online. Resetting it would sometimes work but not consistently and at one point not at all when I ended up resetting my router as well (Cisco E2000) which got things working again until the issue happened again. This time nothing I did got things working which resulted in a service visit where the technician replaced the cable from the pole to the house claiming it was 'shot'. Been working well ever since... |
 | Have two modems. One is on a direct line from pole. Other is split. |

 | reply to Flogger This is happening to me too, and from the threads I've seen here recently, a lot of people are having issues recently where the modem is constantly resetting, a simple service call and CV will just blame it on your router and maybe your computer, which of course are not the issue. By the way your upstream transmit level of 53.50db is dangerously close to the +55db( or +54 db max), try checking for Electromagnetic interference (Old tv box around modem, any broken electronic equipment). If that doesn't work and your 100% sure the modem is fine, then it has to be a wiring issue and only an OSP can fix it, hopefully you can reproduce the problem in front of the OSP. |
 | reply to Flogger I did just have it on cable box because I was talking to Cablevision but it's normally not there. I just moved it and the reading is the same. Right now on speedtest my upload is under 2meg. Speedtests have my ul averaging 6.5 and spurts to 10+ and dl 1.5 with spurts to 5. I have Boost + |
 | reply to Flogger Then I think it has to be a wiring issue, you can ask for a Docsis 3 modem since you have boost+. If the problem still occurs with the docsis 3 modem then your narrowing down the problem for any tech that comes in, in the end I'm pretty sure it will lead to some faulty wire, or maybe a faulty splitter. Also I know how you feel about the OOL issues, only if Fios was around, but I heard they might be releasing LTE advanced for home, if that happens I'm switching to 4g in a heartbeat. |
 | Is the Arris modem not docsis 3? |
 | According to this part of the log it is not. "DOCSIS2.0 (ATDMA) 5120 kSym/s 64QAM" |

| reply to Flogger With 3 bonded downstream channels, it is D3. Never heard of a router config getting altered/corrupted through the wan ethernet connection - if so, there is a serious security issue with the router firmware. Best thing is have them get out there and fix it - with resets that often is should be easy to demonstrate the issue to the tech. First thing they should do is fix your upstream power level. -- NOTHING justifies terrorism. We don't negotiate with terrorists. Those that support terrorists are terrorists. |
 | I guess your right, no idea why it says docsis 2 at the bottom then. To flogger:Could you post the log of the modem? |
 | Upstream traffic does not use channel bonding, so it is running in docsis 2 mode for upstream. Since you have the 3 channels you are using docsis 3 downstream. |

SR1 @optonline.net | reply to Flogger My Internet was resetting anytime I got a highspeed download going last summer. I figured it was too many people at home conjesting traffic and causing my modem to die from too much bandwidth. But I've been gettng it again recently. I just live with it since I know CV is incompetent about helping. If a tech reads this today, I want them to know I enjoy their high speed but the drop outs when downloading are a disgrace to customers. |

 | reply to Flogger Here we are again, 7pm and the same damn issue. Modem resets. Both modems in house which are on different lines. This is just about the same time it happened yesterday. |

 | reply to Flogger i was wondering if the Arris is a docis 3 modem as well. |
 | reply to Flogger They didn't suggest coming out but I'm demanding it tonight. Every half hour or so last night the modem would reset. It is ridiculous. Also, I've never gotten above 24m download with Boost+ is this normal? I've gotten as low as 2m also. I don't care if it's peak times getting 2m is criminal. |
 | reply to jaa How would I go about doing that? |

 | reply to Flogger said by Flogger:They didn't suggest coming out but I'm demanding it tonight. Every half hour or so last night the modem would reset. It is ridiculous. Definitely. If your modem is rebooting that frequently, What does the modem log show around the time of the reboots?
Just an FYI, the tech who gave you specific uptimes was unlikely to be making them up. Sometimes the uptimes reported by the cmts don't update if the modem goes offline briefly, so they can't see the reset. It is a lot easier for the tech to say "yeah, I see the problem, I'll set up a tech appointment" than to lie about the uptime on the modem. |
