Cable card question

Is there a 3rd party box that you can use a cable card with that doesn't require the subscription like Tivo does?

I just got one of the new Tivo Elites with 4 tuners, very nice. With Tivo youre better off getting a lifetime if you get one.

Ceton unveiled their new 6 tuner DVR at the CES a few weeks ago. (review on engadget) Supposed to be out this year sometime.

And you can also build your own Windows Media Center PC like a lot of people do, then hook it up to your TV.

The FCC made cable company offer there subscriber card for people dont have to payed cable company cable box rental fee. The plan had fail and you only have TiVo which you have to pay a fee or window media center option. Dont wasted you money on the lifetime TiVo membership is 500 dollar any only work for one box and cant not be transfer to a new one and you will be stuck for life with and old and unsupported cable box.

Tivo is still in business, they do support their products. You can always find a used Tivo box on somewhere like Ebay for cheaper that already has a lifetime subscription on it. The lifetime subscription goes with the box. Tivo has just won several huge lawsuits and has a lot of money in the bank, so I seriously doubt they will be going out of business anytime soon. It all depends on what you're looking for in a box.

Moxi does not require a subscription, but is a bit pricier up front.

I hadn't heard about Moxi closing shop. That's too bad. Well in the future another option would be the Ceton "Q" that is supposed to be released some time this year.

Yeah I been reading about that one also. Having 6 tuners would be really great I just hope the price wont be too high on it.
