Dtere join:2007-08-22 Bozeman, MT | Belgrade, MT - Two Issues (network wide?) Having two issues which i reported to a clueless Optimum Support team.
1.) High pings for the past two weeks. Looks like data is being routed through Billings again, instead of Seattle. High pings start after the jump from Billings MT.
Snapshot here:
6 23 ms 52 ms 23 ms 72.175.111.20 7 22 ms 23 ms 24 ms blnmtdc3hb6-GE-0-1-3-U0.int.bresnan.net [72.175. 110.45] 8 113 ms 120 ms 112 ms 12.90.77.17 9 142 ms 176 ms 139 ms cr2.st6wa.ip.att.net [12.123.46.130]
2.) Having issues with modem randomly restarting. I just reseated the cabling in my house. Could this be the cause of it? However, I checked the levels on my modem and got in-bound ranges.
D Power SNR Downstream 1 -7.10 dBmV 37.09 dB
Upstream 1 49.25 dBmV DOCSIS2.0 (ATDMA)
Customer Support: Asked me to do a BANDWIDTH test, when i reported a ping problem. Supervisor also stated doing a bandwidth test after I already did it with the level 1 support. Then they told me the problem was because my router between my modem and computer. Even though i insisted that the pings jumped off of the jump out of Billings Montana. He then instructed me to file a form with their support that lists some traceroutes and other 'really simple' routines. Terrible, terrible customer support. They don't know how to troubleshoot at all! |

 | Check tomorrow to see if this has improved. |

 | reply to Dtere For what it's worth - you are not the only one seeing this problem.
See my post here for traces going through most (all?) of Bresnan's upstream peers showing the same problem you are having: »Re: [Bresnan] DOCSIS 3.0 + Channel Bonding in Butte
This is normal with Bresnan and I have come to expect it from them. It will pass over time but it will come back. Always does and always at the same spot in their network. |
