Ethernet to Moca to Coax to Settop box

I have a business Fios account on a small business with a few Actiontech Moca boxes and set top boxes that we never really use. The Verizon Fios guy that set this up (and screwed it up), don't have a clue how this should be set up.

I have a direct Ethernet with static IP from Verizon ONT, no coax from Verizon. They set the ActionTech Moca box up on that IP on the ethernet port. The coax from this runs to another room and to the set top box. It works fine.

We have Ethernet switch between the Moca box and the ONT, with our main firewall on a different IP. So we don't use the Moca box for anything but TV.

Now for the BigGame©, they want to use the conference room in another building with a projector. I have Ethernet to that from inside the firewall, but no Coax there. I tried placing the other ActionTech Moca box there, connecting the WAN port to our network, and connecting the set top box to the coax port like it is in the other location. The Moca box works just fine and can get on the internet and sees the set top box on the coax port, but the set top box never gets a connection.

What do I need to configure to make this work? I tired a bunch of settings, but nothing works. Thanks for any help.

I am assuming you want a TV signal. If so, you will need a coax connection from the ONT to that location. It can be split off any coax connection that is currently connected to the ONT.

The Moca part is used for stuff like guide data and VOD.

With only an internet connection, you could stream the game from some website.

By "Actiontech Moca boxes", I assume you mean Actiontec ECB2200s.

The ECB2200 is a MOCA bridge. It will convert a cat5 LAN connection to/from a MOCA LAN connection. It has nothing to do with your TV signal.

The ECB2200 has a LAN port, not a WAN port.

That's because the MOCA signal and the TV signal are completely separate. The TV signal does not travel over the ethernet LAN connection. The TV signal only travels over coax with a direct connection to the ONT.

Run coax to the other building.

You can also find baluns that will allow you to run a RF (TV) signal over cat5.

Thank you for all the help. I pulled out the ladder today and tracked down a mess of old and new coax. Your right. There is coax going to the ONT and the Moca box is connected to it from a well hidden splitter.

It was my understanding that everything could travel across the Ethernet, but now I see that coax is needed for TV.

We are shifting plans around and going to use another room that has coax.
Thanks for the help.
