| My service is consistent, but unfortunately its CONSISTENTLY slow.
This would be great if it was 1996, or, grandma needed to check her e-mail once a week.

| reply to rchapoteau My solution was switching to T-mobile's prepaid hotspot. My usage was never more than a couple hundred MB per month, so their $30/month with a 1 GB cap has worked out perfectly. For those who need more, they have a $50/month 3 GB plan.
My problem was like yours-- only pockets of coverage around town with lots of dead spots. I drove through lots of gaps, and there was no service at all when visiting family out of town.
My T-mobile experience is the opposite. Coverage is everywhere, and the hotspot will automatically fall back to 3G or Edge when 4G is not available. Slower is far better than no coverage at all.
I've only had it a couple of months, but so far I'm 100% satisfied. At only $5/month more than my Clear iSpot, it was a no-brainer. Had I known about the T-mobile deal before, I would have dumped Clear a lot sooner. It wasn't until my iSpot died-- literally ONE DAY past its warranty-- and Clear was unable to provide a new unit. So I had no choice but to look around for another option-- or pony up the $45/mo for a regular Clear Spot and suffer the same crappy coverage.
As always, YMMV. Those who use a lot of GB won't be happy with a cap. |
