[SU] Security Update 2012-001 (Snow Leopard)

Just noticed this in my SU for 10.6.8.

Since the Lion update treated so many people so well...I think I'll let someone else be the first to play...

I installed the Snow Leopard Security Update last night and shut the machine down when I went to sleep, just like I always do. Booted this morning, nothing to really report. So, that's good news!

DO NOT INSTALL. It breaks PPC applications that require Rosetta.

Wow, damn. I think you're on to something. It didn't break all PPC apps, but a lot crash when trying to use their 'file open' dialog and a couple crash on launch.

What PPC apps are broken for you?

Yeah, Google it... Damn update borks Rosetta. WTF Apple? I know you hate those of us who decided not to update to Lion and insist on using legacy PPC apps, but crap. It's either on purpose or no Apple software engineers actually ran PPC apps before releasing this. Lame. Fix it!

Re: [SU] Security Update 2012-001 (Snow Leopard)

Looks like Apple may be pushing a solution out? Version 1.1 of this Security Update just popped up in SU for me. Getting ready to install and re-boot now.

Looks like this indeed repairs Rosetta. That's a pretty quick turn around. Must have been a pretty good backlash.

Soooo glad I waited. Thanks for taking the hit.

My pleasure, glad I've got nothing mission critical that depended on Rosetta. All's well, that ends well.
