Hopefully planning his return with a massive un-lubbed sextoy that he will shove right into the CRTC / Bell and Rogers..... and after that's done.... right back into the CRTC ( just so they dont forget the lesson)

Wishful thinking ...

The only ones that "got it" was the rank & file Canadian.

My 24/1 300GB cable is going up by $5.13.

I have referrals on my account that were helping to bring the cost down but now I am right back where I started...The problem is am I going to refer more people or just wait to see how this pans out first?

Interesting conundrum. Even trying to get your friends away from the big boys, and then your friend having major problems might get YOU into problems with your buddy. Getting nasty out there ...

I regret to say that's NOT the preferable way the rank & file Canadian wishes to "get it".

My 24/1 Cable went up $4, but I downgraded my DSL from unlimited to 300GB, so I saved $5 there.

I'll find on the next DSL invoice if they processed my change request correctly last month.

Why do you still need two Internet connections? Stop hogging all the bandwidth!

Change is imminent. The thing I'm not satisfied with is the way these changes are implemented compared to the competition.

Having two internet connections isn't bandwidth hogging ya silly.
If I could afford it I'd have two myself.

Guess Marc isn't smoothing things out as much as we all would like.

Actually, you so pose a good question. Where IS Rocky? I think his last appearance was around Christmas.

6 hours unlimited per day + 300 GB for the remaining 18 hours

Including tax, mine's gone up 9.5%, but then again it's only a few bux, and now they include a free period in the wee hours in the morning, which represents a really significant usage cap upgrade.

I'm surprised he stuck with his cable account, given all the issues with the McNicoll POI over the past 1.5 years.

Re: new rates poll : how much did your monthly cost go down/up??

Mine is staying at 31.95 as I still haven't received a 30 day notice.

I have gone from 88.34 for two dry loop @ 8.8mbps to 42.12 for 5.1mbps. With the new price I will pay 55$ for 60mbps in a few days.

So this will cost me 33$ less than this fall, but 13$ more than actually.

Re: 6 hours unlimited per day + 300 GB for the remaining 18 hour

I have two connections here for redundancy. One was typically fast and limited (Rogers Cable), and the other slow but less limited (TSI DSL).

Between having to switch from TSI 5mbit 300gb DSL to 5mbit unlimited (I'm only syncing at 4.5mbit so the "free" 6mbit upgrade is utterly useless for me), and the annual Rogers increase, I'll be paying $17.40 more per month with tax, for essentially the same thing.

Instead of that, I was going to switch TSI to 25/7 300gb in January, which under the new rates would have boosted my cost by $25.31. But then when I called TSI in early January and was told to wait until February, now with the added modem charge the cost will be $34.35 more. Ouch.

So, I was going to drop from Rogers Extreme to Express to compensate, but since I'd have to rent a Cisco D3 modem... my net cost would still increase by $29.61. Although I kinda have to rent a D3 modem anyways, since paying the rate I am for 10/1 service is stupid.

So, I was thinking of shaking everything up. Dropping Rogers for Distributel Extreme Unlimited. Dropping TSI for the 50% off bell 25/7 deal (only 100gb, but I only have 95gb with Rogers now). My cost would go up a mere $9.49, and I'd go from a combined 15/1.8 to 49/8 (soon to be 52/8). This seems to be the best route, but the problem with Bell is it's only a one year deal.

The final alternative is to stay where I am and get Rogers to give me a D3 modem rental for free (so I can make use of the Extreme package I'm paying for), and still upgrade TSI to 25/7 300gb. My combined cost would still go up $34.35 as before, but at least I'd have that 52/8 speed, and the off-peak hours would give me plenty of transfer allowance.
