Very Cool OBD app for Android

Torque OBD app for Android.
Needs a bluetooth OBD scanner, less than $15 on ebay.
Better than a scangauge, cheaper too.

1 edit

wheres one of these under $15 units?
the lowest buy it now I see is $25 (though thats still an attractive price)

I'm definitely going to have to buy that
can it data log or just display realtime?
using my xcal to data log is a bit annoying as I have to have a laptop with me

I have had the elm327 interpreter chip connected to RS232 over USB version connector for something like 5 to 6 years, and never had a problem with it.
»elmelectronics.com/obdic.html#ELM327
Elm makes great cheap chips for cheap.

Back in the day the elm 327 bluetooth version was like $200.
$15 is a great deal.

I noticed that too, when I saw all the $15 dollar ones. Even when I tick off North America, you see they are located in China.

I'm sure if you look hard you'll find some on e-bay in the US

sure you can also get one not via e-bay but the cost'll a little more

it looks like it might only be a bit more but I haven't dug in to see if the amazon one is in the US yet or not

it says fulfilled by amazon so it must ship from the us. unless amazon has some fulfillment centers in other countries that ship to the us and i just haven't encountered it before.

I know there are some on ebay that are made in the UK. Which some of the youtubers who use the App swear by.

That's the one I saw in a couple of tube post where the posters claimed was better, short of being hard wired.

Yeah...it doesn't allow you to modify the ECU profiles...so you're just wasting time.

for me its going to be great
if I want to edit the ecu I'll just get my SCT-x3 out and change the tire size/diff gear/etc setting

but then this little thing should be handy for monitoring
now I wonder can it record data and e-mail it or save a text file?
that would up its value so I could datalog and send the data to the company that makes the tune that my car runs so I can get more out of it. (without having to have a laptop and everything in the car)

No need for a laptop in the car... just keep the display charged, or better yet, use the provided power adapter and USB cable and get power from the vehicle.

and datalogging without a laptop has a limited amoung of data it can capture

then again I don't really want some big lcd cluttering up my car.
