I am happy with it since I have it rooted and set up how I want it. My wife wants me to upgrade to a newer phone. I am considering it now. However, I want a phone that's as easy to root as my original droid and can be overclocked as well as use the free wireless tethering apps. Also, I am on the old unlimited 3g data plan and want to keep the plan. If I get a new 4g lte phone could I keep my old data plan? Any phone recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks |

Couldn't tell ya about keeping your unlimited data..if I had to guess though Verizon might terminate that deal on any new smartphone upgrade, since you'll be going into another contract with them subsidizing the price of the phone. |

Thanks If you check out this thread in the Verizon Wireless forum here »what breaks grandfathered unlimited it confirms that keeping your grandfathered unlimited data should not be a problem. I would make sure you talked to a person and indicate up front that you want to keep your current data plan and then verify with them that is the case before you hang up or leave the store. I recall that there were complaints from some that if you tried to do the upgrade online, there was no selection to keep your existing plan and only selections for the new limited data plans, though that issue may have been fixed by now. |

Sbrav77Premium join:2004-03-02 Bourbonnais, IL | reply to Sbrav77 Well, I did some research online before purchasing my new phone. I ended up with the Motorola Droid Bionic. This phone seemed to review well and was also a 4g phone. Also, I found it very easy to root and had it fully rooted in about 15 minutes. The local Verizon store had the phone for 149.00 as they were doing instant rebates for the month of February instead of mail in rebates. I was able to keep my unlimited data plan even though I went from a 3g phone to 4g LTE. So far, I'm quite happy with the phone. |
