 | Energy audit rebates So I installed my programmable thermostat yesterday, and had an energy audit performed. The recommendations were for air sealing in the attic, add 6" of cellulose insulation in the attic, and install a vent cap or something on the bath fan vent (lots of draft from those fans on the blower door test).
I've attached the price and rebate forms on this post... Does anybody know how these rebates work? Do I pay the full cost up front and get the rebates later, or does the contractor charge the after rebate price directly?
Also, has anybody had work like this done in the Lorain county, OH area? Any good contractors to recommend? |

 | Not sure about Ohio but in MA here the rebate gets paid directly to the contractor and you only need to pay the balance. As you can see in the picture there is $1,600 in work to be done but the cost is under $300. |

I had one done for $100 (which was reimbursed with the rebate).
I got the work done for less than the linked picture by another reputable company for about $4,400. Maryland and Pepco provided rebates of 50% total. So my total cost was $2200 and change after I got my rebates.
My energy bills has gone down 40% consistently from prior year's bills. I think the attic insulation made the biggest difference. |

Have you taken into account the degree days to find out if that 40% is all from the work you had done last year or partly because it's been a warmer winter then normal? That's the hardest thing I'm dealing with is trying to figure out the saving from the insulation work since it's 30-40% warmer here then the last 2 years. |
