Windows Explorer ask connecting to Web ?

I use Windows 7.
Few days ago Windows explorer start to ask connecting to the web, using my DNS servers and then to 216.34.181.94. (port 80)
A Whois rely to frenchmozilla.sourceforge.net
I don't use the french version of Firefox and Firefox can connect to web using http, Ftp ect.
I never had this before. Is there a risk to allow explorer to permanently connect to Internet. ??

it may have more to do with your location than your version.

Initial thought was ...

quote:
What version of Firefox are you running? 9.0.1?

Suspect either that FF wants to update to 10 & happened to hit frenchmozilla, or it is checking your addons with similar result?

... thinking that "frenchmozilla" was a server in the mozilla mix, but now thinking that was incorrect.

So then I would look at extensions (& plugins). If you restart FF in Safe Mode, does it still occur? Not? Then look at the individual extensions, see which may be causing it.

Yes I upgraded to Firefox version 10 few days ago. But never see explorer asking to connect to update anything.
Windows explorer is just asking to connect to verisign when installing new software in order to check the certificate. So I allow the connection.
The problem i have does not occur when I launch Firefox. I can be any time, and if I block the connection, I am not able to launch Windows explorer. I must wait for a long timeout before explorer opens.
I have scanned my PC with Avast and Malwarbyte anti malware, but they returned nothing.
