| Sorry, I should have seen that.
Voxbeam is for larger users, but the same people also own Localphone. You could look at them.
They can be used as a calling-card type of service OR as a VoIP service.

 | reply to zzricezz With your requirements to both use your present ATA and not get a two-line phone, it's pretty tough.
A possible alternative is a calling card service, such as CallWithUs. Canada rate is only $0.005/min., though you'll need to do two-stage dialing. I believe that VoIP.ms could be used that way, too, with an iNum set up as DISA. With Localphone, you won't need two-stage dialing to your dozen most frequent contacts, but Canada rate is $0.01/min. and quality may not be as good, since calls route through their European server.
You might look at FlowRoute. I don't believe that credits expire, but their Canada rate is $0.01/min.
It's possible that there is a way to make both FPL and VoIP.ms work directly with your ATA, but I'm not a customer of either and so don't know what tricks to try. |

 | reply to zzricezz To use voip.ms just setup a subaccount, with the subacount specify ip authentication, and then do what was done to make voxbeam work using the voip.ms proxy address. |

 | reply to hwittenb Hi there I'm not using any SPA hardware but instead I'm using only softphones and I'm very interested about how voip.ms sub_account can be configured for IP authorization with Voxbeam.
Please elaborate - I appreciate your time. |

You need to use your own static IP address and your own hardware. |

If you authorize a Voxbeam account with the IP address of a Voip.ms server, you will make all Voip.ms customers on that server very happy. Because they will be able to make calls on your Voxbeam account. -- Main provider: Anveo - Secondary providers: Callcentric, CallWithUs, Localphone, Rebtel and VoIP.ms Hosted PBX: PBXes.org - Phone: Gigaset S685IP --- PC OS: Ubuntu 11.10 |

Authorizing a Voxbeam account with the IP address of a Voip.ms server was not part of the discussion.
The discussion was about using ip address authentication for your voip account and using this with a Cisco/Linksys ata. This means that you are using the local external ip address of your ata. It does not mean that you are using the ip address of some voip provider's proxy. It also means that the address is static, it does not change over time or if it does change you must somehow update your account setting at your voip provider.
Stewart started this out by suggesting you could use Voxbeam with ip authentication along with another voip provider FPL and had a followup posting about audio problems. It was pointed out that Voxbeam had a $50 minimum deposit and it expired in a year. I suggested that voip.ms also had an ip address authentication option and should work in a similiar manner.
The outgoing call is authenticated by the ip address that you are calling from. The challenge is to send the call to the proper proxy server and the postings discussed how that could be done.
Another poster asked about doing this with a softphone. You could use a softphone with a provider that allowed ip address authentication but it could be difficult to find a softphone that allow you to use two different providers.
