Wow, finally.

This was going to be the year that I was going to finally drop Rogers high speed. My contract ends in September and after so much frustration over the past year, I finally made the decision to leave Rogers. If throttling actually does disappear, I'll stay with Rogers. Otherwise, come September, my business is going elsewhere.

just in time for the rate increase, way go robbers

btw im an insider aka shtill

Yea that's funny, they say this only "after being given a deadline to respond" where they might be breaking the law.

Mention this to anyone in Europe and they will laugh their heads off. What do you get for $65 Cdn Taxes included in the Netherlands for example. 30Mbps uncapped, Phone, HD Interactive TV, modem, HD box and taxes included. "The Netherlands is ranked with Switzerland in having the most broadband subscriptions per 100 inhabitants, has no bandwidth caps, (throttling unheard of) and has the most homes passed in Europe in terms of connection speeds of 50 Mbps and higher

Netherlands - Government-mandated Internet censorship is nonexistent
Canada well..... Um... yea we'll get back to you on that while we petition and force through a bill that would Allow Warrantless Electronic Spying..

Netherlands - In June 2011 the lower house voted for network neutrality enforced by law.
Canada well..... Bill C-552, that would entrench the principle of "net neutrality" and enact rules to keep the Internet free from interference by service providers. This bill died on the order paper at 1st reading on September 7, 2008, Bill C-555, "The Telecommunications Clarity and Fairness Act" this proposed legislation fell after the 39th Parliament was dissolved.
The CRTC recently said Rogers Communications might be breaking the law - February 3, 2012 »www.moneyville.ca/blog/post/1126···ing?bn=1

What do you get in Canada where you can't even access you're own modem's gateway functions.

Internet $72 for 32Mbps capped, throttled, + Modem + Tax
Home Phone Minimum: $26.91 + Tax
Digital Plus HD-TV $54.80 + fees + Tax + HD box.

Add scams, all sorts of fees, nickel and dime here and there and Once again Canada is the laughing stock of the world. *sigh*

LOL
I'll believe it when I see it.

Their network seems to be barely hanging in there at all sometimes. And if they DO turn off the throttling, they'll have it back on in 2 weeks when their network grinds to a halt

"SEE? WE TOLD you we needed throttling. Except it's not called that anymore, think of it as "Advanced Network Something-Or-Other With Lower Caps And Unexplained Issues With Torrents At 1/10th Of Your Rated Speed"....

Buy our new "SuperFantastic Ultra Warp Speed Interwebz" for only $199.95/month because we dont umm, do anything to it. We promise." *

*Promise subject to network traffic, phases of the moon, availability of interwebz and guillibility of end user.Offer not valid in Canada.

They'll just cut the HD channel's bitrate even more to even it out.

I want my HDTV like the source provides it, not the Rogers watered down, no detail, SDV bare minimum picture quality.

We’ve been reviewing our internet traffic management policy over the last few months. The CRTC letter may have sped up the announcement. We have made significant investments in our networks and we believe we now have the capacity to turn off the policy. We will closely monitor the change to ensure our customers continue to experience the speed and reliability they count on.

So you can now admit Rogers throttles now that it's finally out in the open (at least, out in the open on Rogers end. The community here has known about the throttling for what, a year and a half to two years ago)?

You should probably just refrain from posting altogether. You're just a puppet, complete with the hand.

I'm not sure what you think we're admitting here - we've had a network management policy for years, and now that's about to change. We've managed upstream P2P traffic, fully disclosed in our network management policy, which we'll be phasing out beginning in March 2012.

Many a Rogers representative have come to these forums, as well as their own, to flat out deny throttling. Now, with the continued efforts of a few people on this forum, Rogers has finally come out to admit they actually throttle. And now here you are, regurgitating that garbage as if Rogers weren't forced to say it in the first place.

Here we have RogersReggie confirming that, in short, it's not you, it's them: »communityforums.rogers.com/t5/fo···653#M653

Again, RogersReggie stating "it's not us, it's them": »communityforums.rogers.com/t5/fo···54#M1054

RogersReggie pops in again with "we don't throttle, but it's inadvertently misclassified",
»communityforums.rogers.com/t5/fo···69#M1269
(Cameo from yourself with the same statement: »Re: Rogers answerable to CRTC over ITMP again )

I have also spoken to many Rogers reps over the phone and live chat and I have been told "We do throttle the connection over peer to peer connection". Meaning, you admit to throttling, but only p2p software, nothing else. You deny throttling anything except p2p software.
Except it's been proven otherwise, many times. And only now are you admitting to it. After denying it for years.

So please, Rogers_Chris, just stop posting. You're not helping anything, at all, by posting your scripted responses to known issues and refusing to actually look at the proof being provided.

I think you're phasing out the throttling, because you can't properly manage it without adversely affecting other applications, and are under CRTC pressure.

Rogers expects people to just "quit their P2P", wait 10 minutes, if they dont want their other applications to be affected while downloading at the same time... That's just ridiculous, in the day & age of home networking with families using several computers or internet devices at the same time. And then there were the issues that people's gaming was affected without running any P2P to begin with.

Rogers' "fully disclosed P2P policy" has been a joke since day one, since all sorts of stuff has been shown to be affected by users over the years.

Finally it took the effort of some users that would not back down from this garbage for the CRTC to notice, and since they let you throttle P2P provided you didn't discriminate other traffic, they were under the gun to make sure you fixed your problems, but you couldn't, so now you're turning off the throttling under the PR spin that you've made all these network investments, new technologies, etc etc...

You're kidding right? That $2 increase is to cover the increasing executive bonuses and ever bigger profit.

Cuz you know, $5 billion a year after taxes just ISNT enough these days.

I find it funny... that the "customer experience" line is preached over and over again, yet the biggest peeves of every Rogers customer is the same.

- Throttling
- Caps/Pricing for overages
- Customer Service

That excuse is getting old in my opinion.

Either Rogers is completely out of touch with what its customers want or they are spinning the truth to protect corporate greed.

I'll bet if competition were present in Canada, the Rogers tune would change completely.

Chris, the thing is that I don't want to be to critical but WHY..

Why is a country like the Netherlands of all places, who have according to the OECD has the most broadband subscriber per 100 inhabitants, who has never had any caps or throttling and has ALWAYS been able to provide these services for HALF of what Rogers charges.

How can you just NOW have the network, by having customers for years pay 50% to 100% more than the rest of the world ???

Rogers is either..

1) lying
or
2) is grossly incompetent in network management.
or
3) disgustingly gouging customers.

Which is it ?

No, I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake.......
