Clementon, NJ | Cable box shortage? Anyone else in the South Jersey (or anywhere else) area having problems getting a HDMI cable box? Back in November my HDMI cable box took a crap and I went to the service center in Cherry Hill to get it replaced. All they had were Component hook up ones.
Well yesterday that box took a crap and I asked for a HDMI one instead of getting the same back. They said they are still out of HDMI boxes. I am surprised they didn't get new ones in, or they are going through them like crazy because they are breaking down. There were lots of unhappy customers getting Component boxes. I think the only way to get a HDMI box is ones with the DVR.

Many areas are still catching up from the additional demand for HDMI boxes to hook up the Christmas HDTV.

Not sure if they know all the policies of Comcast, but when I went to my local office and asked for a new modem, I was told they only carried used, AND only one kind. Could be the same with the boxes also. I would suggest wait a little if want, but then try someone higher up i.e. the forum or call. |

I'll see if I can get a hold of my girlfriends brother in law and find out if he knows anything. I'm not sure of what he's doing for them nowadays, but chances are good he knows something. |

HDMI boxes are non-existent in Charlottesville, VA as well. Tried to get one yesterday. Ended up hooking up one of my TV's with an HDMI to DVI convertor and analog audio cables.  |

Spoke to him yesterday. halfband  nailed it. A shortage from the additional Christmas hook ups. Since he does mostly plant maintenance, he really has no idea on how long it will be before things get back to normal. |

I had the same problem before Christmas, so it's not just a post-Christmas thing.
Comcast is being stingy about spending cash to replace ancient, supposedly fire-prone DVRs. |

Thanks for the info. But I first had problems getting one right before Thanksgiving. Either way I am surprised they have been out of them for 3-4 months now and have no idea when they will come in again.

The people in the Comcast Direct forum helped me get some HDMI boxes. Even got one of the new Cisco boxes.  |
