| I've tried about three times. I just couldnt do it. I think the final turning point was starting out in the alliance side of a WSG match. I saw the Horde come streaming at us and it felt like I was betraying them. To me, I view Alliance as pom-pom bearing cheerleader types. The Horde on the other hand makes me think of rusty weapons, blood spattered gore, and Nine Inch Nails.
Who knows, maybe you will be on top of the pyramid! Might as well play Hello Kitty world while you're at it. |

I've tried playing horde, but couldn't get into it.

The hardest part is getting used to those that used to be friends now being foes. I've done the switch twice, once from Alliance to Horde and then back.

I'm on RAF right now and was trying to level an Alliance. I just get really get into it as much as my horde toons. Maybe because I have too much invested in the horde side on my other toons. |

I've done this, and in my experience, the hardest part is learning where you can go now - flight patterns were the hardest for me to get used to. Also, questing can be different, so it gives you a different taste of the game to experience the other side. Battlegrounds still sounded the same, a bunch of jackasses all yelling the same thing. I know there are some slight racial advantages with each race, but don't know that they are deal-breakers to keep you from one side or the other. Just think it's all personal preference, and who you want to be with IRL. |

Having to regrind argent tournament and obtain some flight points that didn't transfer over was the biggest pain. I was also up to revered for the wintersaber mount, imagine my sadness when I got transfered and realized the horde mount in ungoro just required doing a daily quest for a month.
With several years on each faction, the quality of the community was pretty much equally awful on alliance or horde.
On the plus side leveling up a couple of alts was less miserable because I had new quests. Then they nerfed leveling into its super fast and easy mode so in the long run that didn't make that big of a difference.

When I got to BGs a bunch of people would start demanding how we are all going to play, shouting out strategies (which were sound strategies). Then four others woiuld tell him/her to "STFU noob". And then everyone plays the blame game while three people were AFK and one was running in circles while he lol'd in a different language in the chat. The lowest level toon with the least health and no BoAs would pick up the flag (score 0-0) and hold onto it saying "if I do not cap then we can GY camp and farm..." as a rogue one shots him from an auto attack. We also had on average three folks spec with their few points into the holy/resto of their class but had less overall healing than a warrior. Our only saving grace was that three alli toons were all on RP going around in white quality gear /greeting everything from their BG leader to the flag itself. These RPers were actually a small asset to their team because a few of our guys would actually run after them instead of the EFC. Miraculously we lost 3-1 most of the time instead of a total shut out.
Yep, horde and alliance are about equal on BGs. Screw "For the Horde!" and forget "For the Alliance!"

I've only played alliance, but will shortly begin a horde set of toons.
I am not the least bit concerned about being tied to one faction or the other.
You can make just as pretty a night elf as a blood elf.
Why not just level a new toon to 85?

Agreed. It takes 5 days to level a toon to 85. If you have BoA gear it takes like 11 hours and 32 minutes. |

I've done it both ways. The hardest part imho is seeing people you used to be friends with and now you can only /wave at them.
It's not as big a deal in this expansion I guess since we are not all hanging out in a neutral city together (Dal and Shatt). But it really is a shocker to suddenly lose the ability to talk to people anymore.
I found in general there are more idiots on alliance but more asshats on horde, so I guess you just have to decide which you'd rather hang with. |

to both of you, I did level a mage to about 74 on the target server before switching the pally over.
It sucked not having a main on that server to fund BOA's or gold period. In the end it was just easier to chuck up $55 for the transfer than to grind out heroics/buy BOE purps/cross fingers for drops.

I switch my shaman over last year and it felt very VERY odd when i pvp'ed. I was trying to heal a orc that was smashing a team-mate of mines in a BG.
I recently wanted to try again (Horde side Zangermarsh is beyond Dead and with achievements becoming account wide) i spent all of last night getting mats and enchanting BOA gear to sent to my new Booty.... Space Goat enhancement shaman.
Got Booty to level 2 and in a level 25 guild in the first 2 mins of gameplay :P
I only wish your gear would stay mogged when you mail it.
