 ARPremium,ExMod 2001-04 join:2000-09-21 Toronto, ON | hey....have your utility bills jumped up? I got my bill yesterday and it's $79! It's usually $55-65 TOPS!
It can't by my George Foreman, right? Other than that....I don't even watch much TV because I'm racking up lot of hours at the office!
Did the rates go up or something? |

I have no idea of what billing I am on. I just come home back to sleep and then sleep some more over the weekends. It's a dog's life and now I have to pay $80 for something I don't even know what! |

my garage isn't much smaller than that...you should be able to heat that place with a lamp or a toaster...even better, just leave the heat off and leech the heat from neighbouring units. -- My friends, love is better than anger. if so, that is likely the culprit...it's the most expensive way to heat a home. |

It's a condo....remember? yea, lots of newer condos here in London use forced air gas heat and have A/C on the system as well...you get a "utility closet" in your unit where the system (along with the hot water heater) is housed. -- My friends, love is better than anger. LazManPremium join:2003-03-26 canada | reply to AR My hydro bill is $151/mth (on equal billing) - usually end up with a month or so's "credit" at the end of the year, but the predictable monthly bill helps for budgeting... Heat's forced air gas, and that's about $80/mth - also on equal billing.
1050 sq ft raised bungelow - about 1800 sq ft of finished space, I work from home, and have a good number of "toys", so the bill is just the price of doing business... |

At least you have a job, I know a guy on EI with a family and an apartment with baseboard heat and TOU is set to go here in a couple months. Vacancy rate is so low here he can't move and still stay in the same school district or anywhere in the city for that matter. |

No, seriously.....I checked and my heat was on 24/7. I've turned it off because I'm not in much now and it's a well insulated place anyways. I don't need to pay an extra $30 for nothing. |

Anyone else in the same (sinking) boat? everyone... when the rate of inflation is nearing 3% (of course the government doesn't include things like fuel in that, so in reality double the "official" rate) and wages staying flat, or even going down (take a pay cut or lose your job seems to be the new employee relations standard), disaster lies ahead. |

Vacancy rate is so low here he can't move and still stay in the same school district or anywhere in the city for that matter. that seems to me like one of the very few situations where a retail electricity contract might make sense. retail contracts are flat rate, no TOU, which in the case of electric heat, might end up costing less. |
