I grew tired of someone thinking they outgear something and going aoe crazy and me running around taunting to save em only to be told I am a bad tank. I have a or had 4 tanks, but it got to be a pain as DPS keeps thinking they know what is right and not chosing D. The DK tank is the only one I found where it doesnt matter what DPS does (except for the boomie blowing away my target out of range when I need a quick death strike grrr.) I would say that the long waits for DPS are the DPS's own fault. If they made the tanks job easier, there would be more tanks and less wait I absolutely agree. I prime spec fury because I'm a casual, and don't want the grief that tanks get. I never grief a tank unless a tank griefs me, even if the tank has marked the incorrect kill order or otherwise doesn't know what he's doing. If I think he's just inexperienced, I'll whisper obvious tips to him. Otherwise, I'll just shut up and follow his kill order, or if he hasn't marked one, focus assist him. If I die or we wipe, I don't blame even if I think it is the tank's fault (for example, ignoring his own kill order - it's not always the dps' own damn fault, just 99.9% of the time).
Usually, I'll only tank for guild groups, but I started tanking the newest dungeons because they are ez mode. Even still, I had one moron who blamed me for a Blaine wipe, accusing me of not using defensive cooldowns, when, in fact, I used, in turn, shield wall, last stand, enraged regeneration, and rallying cry - all while keeping shield block up when off cooldown - plus two defensive trinks. On the plus side, the other dps had brains, and defended me, and the healer admitted he didn't have the chops for the fight. We ended up kicking the moron, and were willing to give the healer another try, but he decided to leave.
In a similar vein, I popped into a Well of Eternity at the Queen. That sent alarm bells off in my head, so I specifically told the dps to kill the hand and interrupt the Queen because I would be too busy with the adds. They then proceeded to ignore then hand and Queen, and I couldn't kill the hand, keep aggro on the adds, and interrupt the Queen. I didn't give them a second wipe.
On another Well of Eternity, at the last fight, a ranged was screaming at me because he aggroed adds, then ran as far away from me as possible, as if I had infinite instant taunts of unlimited range, even if I could instantly figure out which adds were on him. I shouldn't have bothered, but I ran after him to thunderclap them off him, and luckily was able to get back and get the adds off the other party members before a wipe. Now, I've taken to telling the group on that last fight to stack on me or between me and the boss, and if they do aggro something, within 6 seconds I will thunder clap it off them. Incidentially, this lets me dps the boss, but most of the dps is too stupid to realize it.
Really, I don't mind ignorance, if the ignorant party is willing to learn. Stupid is something else alltogether. Unfortunately, sometimes there's plenty of stupid in the air. |
