It's official. Ultimate is going to be 75Mbps everywhere.

I just saw a tweet from @RogersBuzz saying that Ultimate is going to get a bump to 75MBPS in the next two weeks.

I replied to their tweet and pointed out that 75MBPS is actually 600Mbps. lol

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that everyone here has had 75+Mbps for a while now, but we now have confirmation that Rogers meant to do it.

I'm currently hitting about 80-90Mbps in my USENET downloads, but have experienced a few days where I was sustaining about 120Mbps.

EVERYWHERE? That would be nice -- the best I've seen so far todate is 52 on my connection.

Lord I wish they would raise the speeds on the business tars. 82 bucks for 8MB sucks man.

Sweet. Just called to see if my 70% discount applies to Ultimate, and it does, so I upgraded.

That's it? They did 2 years+ of node splits and upgrades and they're only offering 75Mbps?

I live in the center of the universe (downtown Toronto) and haven't even got DOCSIS3 upload channel bonding yet.

No mention of the upload, either, which probably means it's a joke.

You guys take what you can get. I want my money's worth for the year we live in so I will forget about this deal.

How about the upload speed? 50mbps is more then enough for download, let alone 75, it is unnecessary.

Upstream upgrades by next year if you've read any of the past posts. The engineering work for that requires more time.

What a joke, the spec gets finalized in 2006 and Rogers finally gets up to date in the largest market in 2013. A 7 year gap. A decade for something that should take 24-36 months max. No excuses. None.

Hey, anyone on Ultimate now, how many channels is your modem using? My DPC3825 is only using 4/2, and my speed isn't where it should be.

Mine has 8 channels bonded for the downstream, and 2 on the upstream. Getting in excess of 100-120Mb on the downstream, up is still 2Mb. Of course this is speedtest.net speeds. But definitely getting 10-12MB/s on Usenet with multithreaded connections.

lol. What good are these high speeds if you still have a low cap? At this rate, you'll blow through your bandwidth in a few hours.

$50 max overage covers that.

Not everyone needs to download the whole Internet each week.

For example, I only need around 15 (if I work in the office everyday) to 25 GB (when I mostly work from home) each month.

How long will the $50 cap be in place though? It won't be long before they pull a Cocego and remove the max limit all together.

A few people offer 25/7 connections now, what makes no sense to me is with Rogers they are up to 75mbit now and the upload is still a measly 2mbit. They should up it to close to 25% of the download speed like most providers do...so around 15-20mbit upload would make sense for a 75mibt connection and considering the price paid for ultimate it would only make sense.

I can't believe the amount of people that are bitching about this. Yes, the 2Mbps upload rate is low. It's already been shown here that Rogers is slowly (unofficially) doing channel bonding on the uplink side for some areas. It is something that will be coming in the future.

Me personally, I'm VERY happy with the increased download rate. I don't upload much at all and have only found myself wishing for a higher upload speed once in the past year.

I'm hoping once they kill off the analogue cable signal in the future we'll see some really good speeds similar to what Shaw is currently offering out west (Shaw was killing off analogue in Calgary two years ago).

for a jump in speed i'm surprised it's not discussed more by rogers or announced somewhere more official

It will be when it's officially launched. The social media team got ahead of themselves.

Looks like I got the 75Mbps profile in the Oshawa area last night. Sustained usenet downloads averaging around 8.2MBps from an EU server, spiking to 9.2 MBps, and Speedtest.net reports 97Mbps with Speedboost (I don't see how that's possible, but ok).

Still only 4 downstream channels, though.
