| Cogeco removes my fixed IP, now says I never had it. Hi.
I have had Cogeco Business Standard internet for over 5 years now with 1 fixed IP (reserved) and 2 dynamic ip's. In 2009 they were going to give me a true static IP, but I said no since I need more than 1 IP. Now, my IP has changed again and when I called to find out what happened they say there is no reserved IP and don't see me ever having one, although they say I have a static IP assigned but it is not one of the IP's I currently have.
They say they no longer have the equipment to do reserved IP addressing so I will have to buy a block of 5 IPs to get a second address. That's another $50.00 per month.
I signed up for the business package because it gave me 1 fixed IP and other dynamic IPs for backup. Now I find I've been paying for a service they haven't been giving me since 2009 (last time my IP changed and I had to speak with them to fix my new reserved IP which now doesn't appear).
Does anyone know of an ISP in Chatham who has multiple IP addresses for their customers with at least 1 static? I only need 2 but will take more if the price is right. |

FWIW, when I had mine installed they added another piece of equipment behind the modem - and told me a static ip was not possible without it. They also said a 2nd static IP was available for an additional $20 a month.
Doubt you can get a static ip with cable TPIA in Chatham. Might have to consider DSL or fiber.

| I was on DSL when I lived in Florida and don't have a problem going back to it in Chatham. They were going to put in a Cisco modem for the fixed IP when they wanted to change it in 2009. |

FWIW, I'm just switching off a Cogeco business account myself, and placed an order with them yesterday - install next Friday. I went with a simple 12/1 connection on a dry loop with a 300GB cap, which is plenty for me. About $62/MO all in, with 1 static IP. They'll do a /30 for $5, or even a /29 or /28 if you need them.
Also FWIW, I've been a TSI customer in the past. Never had a problem with them. I'm not anticipating any now (despite the raft of "worse case scenarios' in their forums which appear to be mostly cable related).
And they're in Chatham, over on Richmond St, so you can drive over and yell at someone if you like.

| Agreed. Grief where it's due, kudos where they're earned, equally and fairly distributed.
Something that, sometimes, is lacking on DSLr (and I'm no exception).
