| new line installed and first one goes out Hi everyone today cl came and installed my third line they ran a orange temp line for that and put in a new 3 line nid and the tech hooked all that up. my 2nd line is dsl also and that is working fine but my first line that is another family members name is just voice is not working right now. when you call out it has a ton of static and it has a busy tone and says the number you have called is disconnected but you can still talk to people it just keeps giving busy tones and dial tones. my third line that was installed is also just dsl and my modem is not getting a signal which that might be because it is not after 7 pm |

 | sorry im extremely frustrated no one with the customer support can understand how i have things hooked up. Do you have any ideas what the tech could have done wrong? |

wayjacPremium,MVM join:2001-12-22 Indy kudos:1 | All you can do is make sure the problem is not caused by your inside wiring by testing at the nid You should also treat voice service as just trouble with voice service and dsl trouble the same way |

| reply to bkwyatt98 It's not a trailer nid, it's a normal standard nid.
It sounds like your line with straight dialtone (L1) is crossed with another pair (called a battery cross). The trouble could be in your house or outside. If you plug a phone in to L1 at the nid and it still sounds like crap, the trouble is outside. There's nothing you can do about it unless the trouble is inside the house. If the trouble is outside, you just have to wait for CenturyTel to fix it. -- ...because I care. |

 | reply to xdslusr Trailer nid? really? That's a standard nid with no filter/splitter. |

| reply to bkwyatt98 Just an FYI, you don't need to cut off the extra wires each time you run an IW. That CAT 3 or CAT5 wiring can handle multiple dial tones or internet without interference. -- This posting is of my own opinion and in no way connected to any employer. |

| reply to BankerMama the reason why its two whole cat 5e wires is because one goes straight through that wall to a fax machine thats why that one is just the blue pair because thats all i will ever need. and the other go to the other side of the house to my server closet. why would a trailer have a different nid and it doesn't really matter when who ever cl contracts to put the permanent cable underground im having a six pair drop and a six line nid installed. |

 | reply to Xxdslusr said by Xxdslusr :Nope it's a trailer SNI. Standard SNI are six line.. I install them.... No, Embarq, in Virginia, probably 3 to 4 years, went from the Corning NI2006 NID to the UNI-3003 which is what the poster pictured.
@wayjac has a pic of DSL modules for the NID. They come in 2 flavors. The one with 4 orange tabs is a standard POTS module. The one with 3 orange tabs and 1 blue tab is a DSL splittered. The blue tab is for DSL and the 3 orange tabs are filtered POTS. |
