Teksavvy New Pricing FAQ !

Recently, there has been a rather comprehensive FAQ issued by TSI.

It clears up most of the questions being asked during the past few days, and some from before, except about when other services will be rolled out, though they said 'soon' regarding some.

They do not seem to have announced this FAQ here yet, but someone noticed and posted this on page 5 of another thread.

I feel that this needed its own thread, so that nobody in this forum can miss it.

Here is the direct link :

»teksavvy.com/en/Pricing%20FAQ%20···2012.pdf

There are also links to this PDF file from SOME pages of the Teksavvy web site.

Hopefully, they will add more and larger links there.

Quebec gets 10Mb UNLIMITED USAGE plan

I have just checked and there have also been revisions to THIS page of the TSI website :

Most notably there is now an UNLIMITED USAGE plan for 10Mb DSL for Quebec.

I saw that a few days ago (I think it was before Feb 2nd at 12AM). But there still isn't anyone explaining why DSL10 300GB in Quebec cost $3 more than DSL12 300GB in Ontario.

Did you post your discovery anywhere ?

But to answer your question, DO consider that TSI's current VP of Sales is a former B$ELL Marketing exec, IIRC, yet ANOTHER revelation which got buried in a longer thread rather than getting one of its own.

Given this person's history, we no longer need to wonder/ask why some numbers from TSI do not seem to make sense these days.

OK, I'll add a couple more winkies up above.

After all, THIS thread started out with GOOD news - at least that WAS my plan.

Re: Teksavvy New Pricing FAQ !

Still a bit confusing, when they say that old users will have the new fees included in the price, does that mean that they will be paying less than new users, or just paying one larger number? Or the possibility of staying at the old price? (I guess not)

Also doesn't really address what most people have asked, why they aren't forward with the full price that needs to be paid by the customer, which comes across as shady (and, as others have pointed out, possibly illegal advertising as well).

A couple of interesting tidbits from the document..

Cable: We anticipate having a bandwidth tracker available very shortly. Please watch for an announcement.
I don't know what to make of that, but there it is.

Changing between 10/12/16/25 services only costs $25, that will be news to a lot of people on here I think:
Upgrades to any of the High Speed DSL (10/12, 16, 25) work like signing up for brand new Internet service. We will have to check your address to see if you qualify for the Fiber-wire packages. We will then pro-rate your monthly charges prior to the installation of the new High
Speed DSL line.
The only time I've ever heard of Teksavvy "grandfathering" on anything
What if a customer was previously on the 640Kbps Package and has now been moved to the new 2Mbps Package and they anticipate to use more than the allotted 25GB of monthly bandwidth?
Existing customers that have recently been automatically transitioned to the 2Mbps package by TekSavvy will be grandfathered to receive this new service at 300GB / month. Once a change is made to the package, the customer will no longer be grandfathered to receive 300GB of bandwidth per month for the 2Mbps package.
It would seem those 25mbit early adopters are god damned lucky
Existing customers enjoying this package will continue to have their service fees combined until they request a change to their account. If/when these customers request a change to their account (speed/bandwidth), this will no longer be the case.
Overall, why the hell is this a pdf file? Teksavvy should imply technically savvy, don't you think?

Far as I know its not illegal and for me not shady. As for older customers its no different than anything else like cellphones, old cable plans etc that dont exist anymore.People are grandfathered. Its one of the benefits of not jumping ship everytime you find a too good to be true deal (bells new deals come to mind)

Still see no smilies/winkies lol.Not a big deal.I dont work for them I just speak what I see.people freakin over 1.50 or 8.00 yet some say they will pay if its in the final price, others are leaving because its 1.00 more than the guy down the street yet it's going to cost near 100.00 to move. They think they will be with that place long enough to make the hundred back? I doubt it.They jump ship and pay all these fee's just to save sometimes less than a buck and do the same shit 6 months later.Teksavvy has a core customer base that doesnt include the couple hundred on dslr thank god.

It's not, I'm extremely grandfathered with Distributel, if folks knew what I was paying for my 24/1 connection (compared to what it cost today) they'd cry.

Cell phones are however a bad example, if you have the moxy to negotiate you will always get a better deal then the "list price". Many don't and consequently end up paying through the nose and thus the complaints.

The price I pay now for my cell service (and I still have a year left) is less then 40% of the original contract price. That took me 3 calls to get it down to that price, no threats no complaints, I just asked for it.

No, I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake.......

Re: Quebec gets 10Mb UNLIMITED USAGE plan

The problem is it's not the dollar or 8 dollars of any of that stuff, it's the underhanded way folks were treated. That's the issue at hand.

People are told , no signups till after Feb 2, come Feb 2, whamo new fees, that wouldn't have existed on Feb 1.

I would come to expect stuff like that from the incumbents, not Teksavvy (who I still think have grown too fast and now are paying for it).

So does this rule only apply to forgive and forget when they move to TSI and not the CRTC? Because they are far from forgiven by anyone when it comes to CRTC dealings

Working at the CRTC involves controlling what/who /when/where/how of things an ISP can do and who gets to do it to them then yea it would become a problem. As an ex bell guy working at another ISP? Phtt.Lots of them around. Its a job fer christ sake at an ISP not in gov

Personally i wouldn't take a job at a company like Bell no matter what they offered to pay.

It's like that scene from Clerks ...
