 | SLA Business Service I'm just wondering what people think about a 5.8 or 5.3GHZ system with a SLA covering 100% uptime, jitter and packet loss. Should I bother looking into a company who says they can provide such service? |

 | BAD IDEA! SLA and unlicensed bands is 100% not a good idea! |

|
 | reply to mediacoretex I would not.
They could offer an SLA but you cannot be promised 100% uptime with guaranteed jitter and packet loss, without at least a very strict managed network and perhaps dual homing at the customer end. -- "Saying something in another language that you don't think the other person understands is just saying that you're a pussy and are too afraid to say it in English." --Harddrive

 | reply to mediacoretex Then It's really funny how 3 companies in my area offer such a SLA on their non-licensed service. Some of them have a presence in multiple markets as well... |

 | reply to mediacoretex Ooooh i so wanna be there so i can start transmitting pulses of loud noise towards their transmitters. |

Some of them have a presence in multiple markets as well... It depends on how the SLA is written. We had a SLA with a TelCo for a remote truck scale. The SLA was 4 hours to respond. 4 hours later, a tech shows up with a pulse. No tools, no spares, no clue. 2 weeks later, the link was back up. -- Strange as it seems, no amount of learning can cure stupidity, and formal education positively fortifies it. -- Stephen Vizinczey |

 | reply to mediacoretex If it is written correctly then it's fine, the SLA is just an agreement. I while back I hooked up a residential customer who had a T1 with the Phone Company. He was paying $500 something a month for it with an SLA. Every time it rained he said it would go down (old copper) along with his phone line. SLA didn't do squat for him.
He has been using our unlicensed service for a while now. Although we don't provide him an SLA he has been more than happy, getting faster speeds and paying way less obviously |

We have a commercial customer that had a 30/10 through the cable company, which he would only see at midnight(his business hours are 8am-5pm!). He is paying us 4x what he was paying the cable company for a 10mbps(symmetrical), and he is happy to pay us. He hasn't had a single complaint from his employees since we hooked him up on non-licensed link. |
