1 edit | I got the same notice and I am not too far from you (Springfield, MA). Fortunately for me, it does not affect me as my two TVs are hooked up to TiVo boxes with Cable Cards, although I have the HD Preferred Triple Play bundle which has many more channels. It will affect my mother's cousin though if they switch off analog basic up in Northampton (MA) and I told her I'd install the DTA myself (save her an install fee) as she is not very tech savvy (doesn't even own a computer or cell phone). She has basic because she lost TV reception when the analog broadcasts were shut down in 2009. We tried several different types (including amplified) antennas with no luck. The only solution was to get cable. The building construction may be a factor as well as the apartment building is built like a prison only without the bars, locked doors, or guards (I mean thick concrete walls). -- All of my CPE (including my EMTA) is customer owned. The only Comcast owned equipment in my house is the CableCards in the two TiVO boxes I own. |

Will be interesting to see if there is a local uproar over this in the local media when people can no longer get the analog channels in March.
Also unknown is how this will affect the currently unencrypted QAM channels. Most of which are in the limited basic lineup. |

| reply to bennor Here in the Danbury, CT area, we went through the analog to all-digital change a bit over a year ago.
In addition to the elimination of analog, you may also want to prepare for your Comcast bill rising. Without me asking for any new features, the digital transition caused my bill to rise by about $10 per month. |
|
 | reply to bennor The full-digital transition occurred fairly smoothly in my area in September and October and, as far as I know, there was no "uproar" here.
However, the same can not be said for some other areas, like in St. Augustine, Florida:

I'm already in the process of cutting down my Comcast bill/service because of their yearly or what seems to be bi yearly price increases. Already moving over to using a Roku with Netflix and Hulu Plus. If I can get an antenna to pull in the Hartford TV stations (NBC, CBS, Fox), I'd drop Comcast completely and be done with them. |

Do a rescan on your TV or tuner if you haven't already. I've had to rescan several times in the last few weeks due to the Clear QAM channels being moved around.
Edit to Add: Currently I'm picking up 25 analog channels and 64 Clear QAM channels. |

bennorPremium join:2006-07-22 New Haven, CT | reply to bennor A bump for those in the New Haven, CT market. In the fine print at the bottom of the page of the notificiation letter it does state the the following: "QAM tuner TVs will continue to receive Limited Basic channels 2-27, 70, 89-96, 99-100, 177, 185, 190, 228, 246-251, 253, 256-258, 280, 290-291 & 624".
And for some reason, starting yesterday, my analog channels are now partly snow and the Clear QAM signals have lost about 30% of the signal strength and signal quality (per my HDHomeRun) which is causing glitches in the digital QAM channels. Also the STB is no longer properly updating the channel guide lineup. I suspect the technicians who were out twice earlier this week at a home across the street may have screwed up my line or the signal strength on the line. Called Comcast and they reset the box and are doing a truck roll to see if something is wrong with my line. |

 | reply to bennor Same thing here in Mass. Comcast is finishing the rest of New England by the summer. My date is comign soon (don't remember exactly the date). Let's see what this will bring as far as extra channels, HD channels, coming my way. |
