Speed slowdown since 1/29 in Texas

Paying for 1.1 - 3 Mbps. Have not had a issue until last Sunday. Streaming started lagging. Cannot do some of my normal online work activities and stream netflix on the Wii.

Checked speedtest and upload hangs around 3.00 and download around .30.

I called the Verizon help desk and they agreed it was slow. They wanted to access my desktop. I didn't see the point, but whatever.

The call proved fruitless (as I knew it would) because he immediately said that the problem was my computer because of all the downloaded programs on my computer. He was pointing to all my files on the desktop. I explained to him that I work off my desktop for my projects. I save my PS (and others) files to desktop in a project and move them to a folder when I am done with the project.

I didn't have ANY programs on my desktop except for Verizon's lame program I downloaded when the problem started. It is all folders of my projects and files.

Well, I just gave up because he obviously was not understanding me or even wanted to try to understand.

Being the good sport I am (haha) I ran cmd and checked the activity from my computer to the internet. I have avast and it is talking a lot. I make some changes. Nothing changes.

Malware doesn't find anything.

I called Verizon a second time, get another guy and he's already convinced it is my computer. He wants to access it. I tell him no. I think it is complete BS that I have to let inexperienced people from India access my computer. My computer is like my tennis shoes. Personal. I tell him I want my line and router checked. They will not do it. I tell them I want a tech. They want to charge me. I give up.

I do more research. Work on my computer. I call them again and let the tech access it because obviously I do not have a choice. I play her game and let her do whatever. It is getting late. She runs a speed test and it is getting the usual download and upload is at .48.

She says this is good. So we disconnect. I go to bed.

Today, as usual, I am back to slow speeds. I do not know what else to do.

Switch to cable even if it costs a bit more.

Verizon really doesn't care about its POTS customers other than milking them for their ignorance.
