[TWC] NEO: Wideband Not available Mansfield, OH

The day has finally arrived. I seen an email from NEO (in my spam folder from 02/02) in regards to upgrading to Wideband to receive free phone (for a year) and whole home wifi. I thought well probably another improper marketing campaign to customers who can't get it. I called up and it's available to my surprise, my installation appointment is next Saturday.

I'm outside of Warren, OH and it looks like D3 is hitting here sometime around the middle of April. I called in and got an ambitious rep who didn't like NOT knowing why the D3 codes were available for him to enter but still wouldn't work. A few minutes on hold to ask a competent supervisor and he found a note in the system saying mid-April for this area. He also advised trying back sooner since he'd never seen the codes available in the system that far ahead of a service being launched in the area.

At least the codes are available which probably means the bin files are ready to go for when its launched. Here in texas that isn't always the case, I recall in parts of north texas when D3 officially launched the bin files weren't ready yet which means you had blue lights but still no channel bonding.

I am pretty sure you guys are going to get DOCSIS 3.0 this year hold on a little bit longer.

TWC is already launch DOCSIS 3.0 in its very small systems in WV so I am sure that it will hit all of the systems TWC owns except for former New Wave and Insight areas that might need work in the areas that were not upgraded by those providers.

TWC said in August that DOCSIS 3.0 should be deployed in 100% of it is footprint by the end of 2012.

I know that these systems are currently working on DOCSIS 3.0
Nebraska
Ohio
West Virginia
Los Angeles
San Diego/Desert Cites/Barstow
Texas ( was told by TWCdude that may tenative date for columbus/eagle lake and Gonzales/Cuero/Yoakum)

I know that TWC has some work to do in some systems that are analog only or 550MHz with digital

I don't know if some of the following systems are 750MHz but are not fully utilized:
Dilly, Pearsall, Cotulla TX they have some HD 5 networks only and a digital suite (they have motorola boxes with SA boxes as well need to remove the motorola boxes before any major upgrades) probably 750MHz system,

Telluride Colorado (maybe 750MHz as they have 45 HD channels)

I am on signature home in the Mansfield Area. It does not look like wideband is available yet because my modem is not showing bonded channels and I have called them to confirm that the codes are on there for the 50/5 for when it is available. I will let you all know if it does change.

Well, I was shot down this morning @ 8:55 AM which is one hour from the section of time the installation appointment was setup for. I was told it wasn't available "way out there", and they were sorry for the inconvenience but I could upgrade to "Turbo". I declined the offer stating there is no speed/benefit between Standard & Turbo so why would I pay $10.00 more a month for the same speed? I forgot to ask the CR when it would be available so I called back later. The CR I spoke to then of course stated they did not know on the front end when it would be. I stated I received an emailed advertisement for Wideband w/ free phone for a year thus the reason for calling in to inquire then setting an appointment. The CR that called to cancel the appointment stated I should of never been setup at all. I just wish they would of called sooner before arranging my schedule around the installation appointment. The middle of the week I even spoke w/ an on-line CR about when/how the installation fee would need to be paid.

I hope since the codes were able to put on last weekend it means Extreme/Wideband is coming soon. However, with statements such as "way out there" I highly doubt it. You would think w/ a city that is worth having VzW LTE it would of been here by now. I work from home often so any increase from 1MB "Up" would be great on VPN.

Like I said I am on signature home I do get the extreme so you should be able to too. I get an average of 30-34mbs down with a fairly consistent 5 up. The only thing like I said is I do not have bonded channels. Sometimes during heavy peak times I see my download drop to about 22-25mbs. But still get the 5up. So you should have no problem calling in to get the 30/5. I am in Lexington BTW. There are others in the area that do not have Signature home that have been able to get extreme. Just make sure they give you a docsis 3.0 modem which you should be able to get from the central office on 42.

I'm over in Ontario. Just had lunch @ "Old Bag of Nails" and seen two TWC guys there. Wish I would of said something to them. I'll give them a call about Extreme and see if I can get it. Thanks for the reply and information.

Well...shot down again, they said I can't get Extreme. However, she specifically inquired if I received any emails offering Wideband or Extreme. I stated my previous scenario and she said more than likely it "should" be available with 2-3 weeks since if I'm starting to receive notices they normally come before it's rolled out.
