 | If you are going to have usage billing If you are going to have usage billing can we please have a system where we can use the usage we didn't use in a previous month ? Seriously I had like 20 GB of usage left and I just lose it ? It is bad enough we are paying so much for internet and cable in Canada so if things aren't going to change price wise and usage level wise can we please have carry over of what we don't use ? |

We should be nudging the Indie ISPs like TSI or eBox to try this, if at all, rather than the incumbents like Cogeco or Bell. |

We should be nudging the Indie ISPs like TSI or eBox to try this, if at all, rather than the incumbents like Cogeco or Bell. TSI already does it with a 2 month rolling cap. 300g cap, use 100 one month, use 500 next month, you're all good. Use 900GB over 2 months, they roll you over to an unlimited package for the month, bill you $13, roll you back to the capped package the next month - likely all automated.
No $2500 usage bills lurking in the alleys like a junkie waiting to jump out and mug you when you're not looking.

They just gave it a different name, but the result behaves 'like a duck' to one's wallet.
Now that exact $13 is specific to YOUR bandwidth (speed) tier, or would it apply to all tiers ? |

I do note, they tweaked that policy very recently - simplified it. They don't "roll" your account over to unlimited then roll you back again. I think that was just confusing people. They just bill you the equivalent of the unlimited, $13. That's it. I think of it as a $13 usage insurance that covers unlimited usage, but only billed when actually, you know, used.
Also noted that their meter doesn't run between midnight and 8am - unlimited during those hours.

| reply to dillyhammer I suggested this a long time ago. As long as Bell is Cogeco's only competition, it's not gonna happen.

Mike I would be back to TekSavvy on their 25/7 plan in a heartbeat if it wasn't for the dry loop fees. I'm band F, so it's just not worth it Definitely not giving up my voip.ms. |

 | reply to SeanDeMarco1 Good idea. It would help people who don't use their whole limit (We don't come close). Also, the ISPs should change it so that when you reach your limit, they cut you off, and you can choose to buy more (in blocks) or you could not use the Internet for the rest of the month. This would probably tick some people off at first, but in the end the ISPs will have happier customers and better customer retention. |

Band rates are set by Bell relative to the amount of competition that exists at the local exchange level. Oakville should be Band C at the very worst, and is most likely Band B. Even bumfuck nowhere Fort Erie is Band C. If they're telling you you're Band F something is wrong. |

Hm, I'll have to look into this. I used TekSavvy's online checking tool. It reports a rate of $16.20 for my old Tel #, which is Band F.
Maybe their tool is innacurate though? I'll give them a call to see.
I'm out in the northwest end of Oakville, Dundas and 8th line area. If you're right and it is Band C or better, I might poop my pants in excitement!
Yeah, that's the one! |

GonePremium join:2011-01-24 Fort Erie, ON kudos:1 | Let me just put it this way - if you can get 25/7, there is absolutely no way you should be Band F. Other users in the Teksavvy forum have been talking about how their phone number is being listed as Band F on the website but when they validate service it comes up as B or C. |

The popup on their web page still says "flipped" (or did a couple hours ago anyway). Probably just missed that one. Weird, as I have 2 copies downloaded of their FAQ PDF, one at about 5PM on Saturday, and another at same time Sunday (when I first read your comment about Sunday changes), and I have eyeballed both on diff tabs, paging up and down, and can see no changes during that time period.
I downloaded a 3rd copy on another PC just now and still notice no changes from the other two, in section #1, where most of the issues seem to be.
BTW, the popup currently says : quote: 2 Month Rolling Average TekSavvy will manage usage based on a rolling 2 month average. Rolling average is defined as usage during peak hours. (Outside of the 2am-8am off-peak time)
How the Rolling average works. Every month, we will average the usage for the two previous months. If the average exceeds the Customers cap, we will automatically roll them over to the unlimited plan. Our customers will be notified when this rollover happens.

Well, seems to be in a bit of a state of flux. This is what it says now, and it said something similar to that yesterday, but not sure if it hasn't been tweaked a little since then.
Popup still has the older info, yes.

It happened to me once, on the 31st of the month. I was NOT impressed and am very glad they stopped that practice a few years ago. |

Mike All 3 of my downloaded copies (3 diff days) match your screen shot on that clause.
Anyway, the latest is that the doc has been pulled, now that it has achieved its purpose.
They post a FAQ doc at a semi-hidden (scroll waaaaaay down) link without officially announcing it, do not respond in the public forum to questions about it, WE stumble upon it and proofread it for them for FREE, and now they pull it to rework it, taking into account our suggestions and concerns.
Crafty, eh ?
Part of my brain I wishes that this had been MY idea.
Currently there is no link on the website, and the URL for it (which I had saved and posted) has gone 404.
Stay tuned, back in the appropriate forum....
